Comment:
Makes concepts seem way more complex and difficult than they really are. His lecture slides make it impossible to understand what he's talking about. He is very disorganized and not very helpful when you ask him a question or to better explain.

He doesn't really care if you go to class or not, which is cool but I would suggest going to class - you will score better on the midterms. However, he makes simple concept way too complex and talks too much. He also doesn't give you a lot of time to write down notes and his videos are useless.

I think Dr. Potter was a great prof. He was so clear with concepts and examples in lectures that I didn't even have to study when it came down to the tests because I just knew the material by going to class. The only downside is that he doesn't post his lectures and the textbook was not helpful to learn from

I didnt understand much or pick up the text once. He goes through the lecture slides quicker that you can write but it is KEY to print the notes off his website. Focus on the paper and take home exam...if you do well with those doesnt matter if you screw up a lil on the midterms.

I think he's a horrible teacher. He doesn't understand that in order for students to learn we must be able to understand and one helpful aspect of understanding to be able to copy down lecture notes which he makes little attempt to at a steady pace so that we can write down important things. HORRID!

Vague, unclear and dull. I would advise not taking the class if you have a short attention span. Only responds to selective emails. ... on the upside he is easy going and doesn't really care whether or not you go to class.

He does an incredible job of illustrating the complex abstract theory. Will make sociological theory relevant to you today. At lectures, be prepared to give your hand a workout. But it's all worth it. Verdict: definately take his class.

Good Prof overall. There is no question, he knows the subject he teaches. The second test is harder than the first, but because they are in class it doesn't even amtter.

Show up and pay attention and you're set. Make use of the on-line notes, they are key. He's helpful, always willing to clarify. Good prof...knows theory well, biased(who isn't?)but will present all angles anyway.

He knows his stuff, the problem is that you might not. Theory is tough, he tries to soften it. Who could ask for more?
