First, the book chosen for the class was illogical, there were a lot of long homework assignments, and the tests were difficult. However, Professor Avrunin really goes out of his way to help you understand. After the first test, I thought I was going to fail the class, but Avrunin reached out to me and helped me get back on track.

George is a good teacher. His homework is long but fair and you are graded on two exams, homework, a few definition based quizzes, a group presentation, and a final reflection paper. The class is simple enough you just need to put effort into the homework and studying. I would recommend him as a professor.

Honors Linear Algebra is the most difficult class I have taken as of yet. As it is a relatively new class, the department is still working out the kinks. The book we used seems poorly edited; it was out of order, and very confusing to comprehend. However, Professor Avrunin is a kind, understanding man and will work with you to make sure you succeed

George is a good professor. The book he chose for this class isn't great but he does his best to clarify in lecture. The he treats the honors version of 235 as more proof based and rigorous than the regular section of 235. Lots of people struggled with this class but if you read and understand the definitions the class is pretty straight forward.

This was my second class with him, and the only reason I took it was because he is a truly helpful guy. My gripe with this class was with the material. The material was extremely dry and insipid and I doubt even he was interested in teaching it (not that I blame him).

I had him in the first semester that I was a math major (my fourth semester here) and it was an awful class. His lectures came right out of the book (which was no help because the book sucked), you couldn't hear anything he was saying since he spoke so softly, and he was obsessed with having a bell curve. However, he was a cool guy and very helpful

Even though this class is basic math its difficult to succeed with this professor. He lectures ALL class and rambles on about nothing. It is very unhelpful and you pretty much have to teach yourself through the book which can be very difficult. He is also a harsh grader on exams. HW is really long, takes forever, and is graded.

George is a great guy, and he really knows how to present topics. This class was of medium difficulty, but the material towards the end was definitely more tricky. The class itself is very interesting, and I often felt that whenever George was talking, we were all huddled around the fireplace as he was telling interesting mathematical stories.

WORST PROFESSOR EVER. Avoid at all costs. Homework takes at LEAST 3 hours, comes to class and just talks. he doesn't provide notes or anything and he is not helpful at all. Everything is his way or the highway, points deducted on homework and tests if you don't word things exactly how he wants them. Also has no respect for other peoples time. Awful

He's terrible. The homeworks are too long, and he takes off points on them for no reason at all. He made the first test so long that almost half the class wasn't done after 1hr 15 mins. This is NOT and easy A. His lectures are boring and unhelpful, and he'll start a new topic 2 mins before class is supposed to be over. AWFUL!

His lectures are boring and uninteresting, and he has a habit of not fully explaining/giving examples of what hes talking about. The notes he puts out himself are very good though.

He talks slowly but is very clear. After all, folks from michigan are more laid back than us new englanders. He posts some very detailed and organized supplementary notes on his website. Math 300 is pretty difficult but this prof is clear and thorough. Attendance isn't recorded but it is an absolute must for this class.

Very unclear, the entire semester you have no idea how you're doing, very dry and boring. Did fine rarely going to class, but I know that a lot of people had trouble understanding the work because his explanations were so vague. Avoid this class unless you plan on applying to CTEP or the early childhood ed major.

I think he's a very good teacher. The only issue i have is that he tends to discuss procedure of problem solving for 35 minutes every class period.
