Though you won't lose marks for not showing up to his class, you won't want to miss a single lecture as he doesn't really follow a syllabus or the text. He has amazing lectures and is passionate about what he does, but his exams can be a little stressful. Prepare to memorize a lot of dates and names.

He's an amazing prof. He makes the class really interesting and relevant to life (ESP as a VA student.) It's a hard class though. You've gotta attend class and really study. SI sessions are recommended for sure. TAKE NOTES IN CLASS.

Not bad a prof. Chaotic teaching style that can be all over the place. If you ask questions, he is happy to help. The better teacher for Art History, that's for sure! Not a hard course if you're willing to put in the effort, come to class, and study.

Wonderful. Makes art history fun and exciting and keeps you thinking all day. Opens your mind to this subject and makes you eager to learn more. Keeps it interesting by going off on his tangents and including art in your projects. Fun, creative and exciting class, there couldnt be a better art history prof in the world.

smart, but unstructured in lectures, gets on tangents easily. He knows far more then he could possibly teach in one semester, and that trips him up, as he wants you to know everything as well. very fair prof as well. but slid ID's suck. haha.

I don't believe anyone has really experienced fantastic post secondary teaching until they have had Gerard. Take this course, it is amazing. The knowledge this man has is astounding both historic and whats happening in art right now. He truly cares for his students and about doing a great job.

Pretty wicked. The classe is fun and interesting. Lectures are fast paced, engaging, and the papers/ projects are refreshingly challening, and He is a fair marker when it comes to grading. He wants to see us all do well in the course, and enjoys his job (as far as I can see). He is passionate about the subject and passes that on.

Excellent Professor. Extremely entertaining and funny, makes material interesting, appreciates hard work and creativity. Really gets you thinking and challenging different ideas. Ive yet to meet a student of his who didn't like him. Course load is average for a 2000 level course, his grading is also about average.
