Great professor, I would take another one of his classes again. Hard grader on midterms, but feedback and grades on essays are fair. Very willing to talk to you about the assignments in his office, and has a dry sense of humor during his lectures.

great feedback, very helpful. lectures repeated themselves especially if you had read the texts beforehand (takes most of his notes from the readings). there is a lot to read but a lot of it was fun and interesting. needed more media (maybe some movies), the slides got boring. a great young teacher who makes you work hard but you learn a lot.

What a jerk! I killed myself for this course for a mere C+. Incredibly difficult and unfair marker. Avoid his painfully boring classes at all costs. Course description VERY misleading, absolutely NO pop culture!

Fabulous professor! He gives great feedback, is very approachable, very helpful, and has increased my interest in history a lot. His classes are definitely challenging, both Brit Hist and this one, but you learn a lot both in material and how to be a stronger history student. Strongly recommend his courses!

Smith's a good prof, and his pickiness about commas and citation only make your own work more professional. Likes his field and will chat with you about history and other stuff. The Crime in England course is great, take it.

Re: hot? kinda Doogie Howser. Anyway, this guy will spend forever correcting where you put a comma and no time at all talking about how to do good history. Nice kid, but a bit outclassed by, well, the rest of the history department. Maybe he'll do better in time. Won't take another with him.
