Comment:

Worst professor I've had on this campus. 15 page syllabus, 3 of them are just readings for the course. Assignments have no explanation, except to refer to a book you should've bought that wasn't listed in his readings. Students present 4-5 books per week while he sits in the back of the room. I've never dreaded going to a class more than this one.

Comment:

Dr. Mixon was my favorite professor and he challenged me a lot! I learned so much from this course and i encourage anyone who has a strong interest in African American history to take it. Be advised, you do have to read in order to write paper successfully and PLEASE take advantage of all extra credit opportunities! Great class and professor!

Comment:

Dr. Mixon is an amazing teacher who makes you work for your grade. Got a B in his class and was very happy. Extra Credit is given but he will not tell you. If he ask you to redo an assignment or to talk about the book or article you just read do it! That is the extra credit but not all of it counts. Just best to do it all.

He is the absolute worst professor I ever had. He grades very difficult and it seems like if you really tried and show all your passion, he doesn't show any sympathy and your papers are always wrong. When you ask him questions, he doesn't give any answers and he basically lets you think for yourself on how to do things and it shouldn't be that way.

The absolute worst professor ever. I am normally an A or B student as well as many other students in HIST 2160. He will not give us anything above a C. His grading and standards are impossible to reach. I am prepared to do the work. This class was horrible.

Dr. Greg Mixon is a professor that allows you to grow within your major. As I read some of his ratings I find great disappointment in fellow history majors. I believe nothing is given to you, and for those that expect handouts just wonder.. Do you really learn as much as you could when being faced with discomfort, or do you sink into complacency.

This was the hardest class I have ever taken. I am normally an A B student. Be prepared to work!! He is not very helpful and loves to answer questions with questions . He is too biased in the topic of race. I feel if he listened more to his students and gave more encouragement he would be a lot better.

I am an older adult student. I took his 2600 writing class a few years ago. He was tough back then. But, it was to get ready for the other writing intensive classes in the future. Now to be finishing up my degree with his 4600 class is awesome. He is hard. He is fair. You have to do the work. If you need help he will meet with you.

ABSOLUTELY WORST TEACHER I'VE EVER HAD. Had more reading for him than I did in my 4000+ levels, and he gives out grades with no reasoning. Never gotten lower than a B+ on a paper in my LIFE, and he gave me all D-'s. Wouldn't explain his reasoning. Loves to put you on the spot and play devil's advocate. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

THE WORST PROFESSOR I HAVE EVER HAD IN MY ENTIRE COLLEGE EXPERIENCE. He Has Impossible Standards and treats things like a game. He lacks the ability to give clear instruction and i will never take a class that HE teaches ever again.

Agree with all of these comments. He requires too much reading for a 2000 level class. He doesn't answer questions and when he does it's with another question. Half of the class dropped the class and rightfully so. I wish I did. Everyone in the class is in fear of failing because he has unattainable grading scales. 12 books required

I had high hopes when I reteredfor this class. I could not get what the prof. wanted me to do. He uses at least 12 different books for this class and wants you to know about everything in eachone of them. His exams are all essays. be ready to write and write and write. strange teaching style

dr. mixon is concise and very fair with a sense of compassion. If you are looking for an easy A do not waste your time taking his class. he does not suffer fools easily. if you want to improve your writng skills, take the class. he teaches at a college level not high school he also has a unique sense of humor.

He's literally terrible. In every sense of the word. I'm a 3.9 student and have a C in class. He's vague, has no idea what he's talking about and he loves to play "devils advocate" and answers your question with a question. The essay tests are impossible and the texts assigned are unbearably boring. Do NOT take him. Ever. Under any circumstance.

Dr. Mix is a great teacher. If You are interested in learning to write better, take his class. I have taken two of his classes. I made As in both. So, it is possible to make an A in his class. Dr. Mixon is extremely helpful and will try to help you in any way possible.

I wouldnt advise taking this class at all. He doesn't teach you anything. he lectures and asks rhetorical questions all day and when students actually participate he questions their opinion and says "why? why this? why that?" which makes it very intimidating to participate becuz he basically shuts u down everyime.u hav to read 6 books at once also
