She over explains things to the point that everyone including herself gets confused. Most time half the class falls asleep. I had to teach myself basically the whole course because she fell way behind the assignments. A nice person, but just a bumbling old lady as a professor. No wonder half the class failed the midterm.

I'm only a few classes in, but so far she's proven to be quite rude personally and to be a poor lecturer - speaking with many strange pauses and making mistakes. Think I'm going to drop this one, especially with the other comments on here.

you know what, this prof is under-rated. I think she's pretty cool in lots of respects. in the end of the day, she's pretty funny in a way, and she's definitely into what she does at this university. cool course, excellent material.

Don't let the ratings fool you. If you pay attention and string together the things the says (she tends to talk about 3 things at once all the time), you'll learn a lot and do excellent on the tests, which are straight out of the assignment questions and lectures.

Absolutely a horrible prof! Doesn't answer e-mails when you ask for help. Doesn't explain why she gave you the mark that she did. For the quizzes and assignments she wants too specific of answers and marks them very unfairly.

Did this course by DE. An absolutely awful experience and a terrible instructor. Trying to cram at least two semesters worth of stuff into a one semester SCI course. Never-ending list of things that need to be done almost weekly. Take this one and you will be sorry. It will consume a lot of your time, way more than other courses.

Taking Astronomy as an online course was a terrible idea. The quizzes and assignments are very far removed from the lecture content. Quiz questions are typically on ridiculously specific pieces of information and my explanations are never good enough. I wouldn't recommend this suffering on anyone.

Definitely not the best prof. Confusing explanations with lots of mistakes makes already difficult enough material even harder. Really gotta put a lot of effort in on your own in this class. Don't get too down after the final, you pretty much are guaranteed to fail but wait for them to boost the marks. hopefully you'll beat others out.

...I'm not allowed to speak my thoughts truly about this prof on this website because it would be profane. She is...just terrible. I've barely started and I already know I'm going to fail the course. She makes mistakes constantly, writes all over the place when solving problems, and acts arrogantly towards her students. Bring a laptop!

I found this class to be very difficult. There is a lot of work needed to put into this class. I would definitely not take this course with the mentality that it will be a 'bird' course. The course material is extremely interesting, it's just that I found it tough.

I took the course DE, defiantly a good choice if it’s your first time with astro, so that you can re-listen to the lecture. It’s not an easy course, but Prof Harris does a good job putting it together. Responded quickly to questions, fast and fair marking, fair final, assignments really helped you learn the material. Great prof.

Her tests and assignments are more than fair and do able with some slight effort.. but what do you expect when you go to university? Someone to just HAND you your degree? As far as excitement goes, yes, she can be boring. But, she does know what she's talking about, and will stay after class if you have any questions. Some complain about the constant mini-quizzes and assignments, but they keep you on track.
