I did not enjoy his class one bit. He tells you to go to office hours if you have questions during class. HELLO we are in community college because we have busy lives, jobs, and obligations. One should be able to ask questions during lecture.

DOESN'T EXPLAIN VERY WELL, KEEPS GOING WHEN YOU ASK A QUESTION AND DON'T ANSWER THE QUESTION, WILL TELL YOU HE WILL COME BACK TO IT AND NEVER DOES.ALWAYS HAVE A STORY TO TRY EXPLAIN SOMETHING INSTEAD OF DURING HANDS ON WITH THE STUDENTS.

This class is great for ppl who already have a good grasp on Algebra. Prof.'s lectures often seem scattered, and it's hard to follow in the textbook. You basically teach yourself in this class, & he encourages you to seek help in the Learning Lab. Even with help, t/assignments were overwhelming and once behind, impossible to catch up. Tests HARD.

This class is amazing! Prof Ling is an awesome, passionate teacher who obviously loves his job. Do your homework, and ask questions when you need to and you will enjoy this class. Note: He is rigid in his rules - if you miss a quiz, even if a natural disaster prevents you from taking it - you will receive a zero. Attendance is a must.

Prof. Ling is nice, and I understand his lectures (sometimes they went a little too slow), but to me it seemed like his lectures, the homework, and the tests didn't exactly match up. Took him for College Math which is a strange math class. Liked him, but almost made a C despite doing my homework and going to his office hours.

You might as well take this class online and teach yourself if you're going to choose to take him. Does not explain things at all, gives you homework on things he has NOT taught yet, and grades very unfair. He also has an attitude and gets mad if you ask him to explain how he got the answer. NOT recommended.

I chose Ling specifically for a time he substituted my intermediate algebra class and was awesome. Not as clear to me in college algebra, but it could just be me. My major problem with him is he would often take SEVERAL weeks to grade and return our tests! It was very difficult for us to make progress not knowing what we were doing wrong.

Comment:

Best math teacher I've ever had. Took college algebra with him. Simultaneously gifted in mathematics and able to explain the topics in a simple manner. Will try to get him again for trigonometry. If you really want to learn the topics well, take him. If you don't care, and don't plan on continuing to a higher level of math, go somewhere else.
