Comment:

He is a very good researcher but a terrible prof. He tends to assign mandatory bio-stats online assignments with so many bugs that it is impossible to finish. He also doesn't make any exceptions for extraneous circumstances. However, if you study the powerpoints he posts you will get a 10 fairly easily.

Comment:

The entire organization of the course was a complete disaster. We covered 16 chapters, one of which could have had a whole exam written for it. His notes were not in depth at all, so the textbook was a must. His lectures were boring and the tests were brutal or awkwardly worded at best to make you lose marks. Avoid him if you can.

Comment:

Had him as a thesis Supervisor. He has a weak background in many of the new projects he undertakes and had no capable Post Docs while I was there. He was unable to provide intellectual support to his students. Having now established myself in the research community, I would say Mr. Schellhorn's research and teaching skills are poor.

Comment:

I am enjoying the class a lot more than I thought I would. Dr. Schellhorn definately has hard tests, but he encourages thought rather than just memorization. Definately a fair marker, he tries to give out marks whenever possible even if the answer is not consistent with what he taught in class.

He was my least favourite of the 3 first-year profs. I didn't like his "lecture notes" which turned out to be overheads and I definitely learned more about Vitamin C than anything else I was supposed to learn from what he taught. At least he tried to get us to answer questions like half the time!
