Ian was an awesome teacher. he was very into what he was doing. although he didnt mark the midterm, final or term project my TA Elizabeth was amazing. she was very helpful and responded to emails and office hours always available!! best teacher i had so far and best class i had so far for a geo major

Ian is a funny prof but his TAs this semester were anal markers. Exam questions were all essay format and too general, marks are hit or miss. Project was somewhat fun. Gotta go to tutorial to get marks.

Ian's awesome. My favourite prof by far at SFU. He's really loves what he's doing and it really passes on to students. He keeps his classes fun and engaging. The text book is not necessary, but good for a reference

What a sweet guy. Very organized with his lectures, slides were printed out in a book for us to purchase. Explained everything really well at a level we could understand. However, hes very much a 'grandpa' and having lectures at 10:30 on a friday make class very sleep worthy. Make sure to drink your coffee!! No midterm and easy/fun term project!

he's passionate and interested about his topic, which is awesome.. However.. this semester he decided that the TA's marked our term papers too generously.. so he revamped all the marks and lowered everyone by at least 2 marks.. very crappy.. it was unfair and unwarranted.. he's an okay teacher

Here's three cheers for Ian. I took quite a few classes from him, and found his style verye njoyable, while most of the time was not oriented towards the subject matter. You myst love Powerpoint and Comic Sans MS font. He let me make up a midterm once.:)

Great lectures, tutorial, and midterm. Final exam is retarded, 3 essay questions. If you know everything in the course except for those three topics you are screwed. Beware, I got an A in tutorial and an A+ in the midterm and still only got C+ overall.
