He can be confusing, but I think he's just trying to make you think rather than tank you up with information. I got something out of his lectures even when I didn't understand them. Despite his complex lecturing style, he is hilarious. He will yell, jump up and down, and run across the classroom. Not as harsh a marker as I thought he'd be.

Do your readings. If you showed a bit of an interest in the subject and engaged in class Bailey was more than willing to reciprocate. One of the most enthusiastic professors at the U of M, which was great. He would occasionally put students on the spot and had crass humor. The material seemed outdated, though I guess a historical survey isn't bad.

A very tough grader, especially for an introduction course. I began the first section receiving an A+, in logic, and as the year continued, my grade had gradually dropped to which point I'd be lucky to get a C+. Note taking is extremely necessary as everything was graded "as said in class". Not at all a GPA friendly professor. Stay away.

Terrible prof, he's all over the place with lectures and notes and then makes very hard tests that almost half the class fail consistently, do not take this class, take it with another prof! Save yourself the headache

Writes in abbreviations and is very unclear. Can be extremely rude and unhelpful. Get mad when no one raises their hand but yells and bang head on board when they are wrong. It's a basically teach your self class. TA is so rude!!! They are both just plain rude.

His lectures were confusing and not clear. He had his teaching assistant do most of the talking at the beginning of the class and he was also the one to answer questions originally. Sometimes he would ramble on. He would try to get class discussions going but when anyone gave their opinion he would say that they were wrong.

His notes were hard to follow and he used shorthand without explaining what it represented. So, even if you could read it, half the notes were symbols. The whole class did not learn much from him. Talked down to the class. He actually kicked the class out early once because they were too afraid to answer a question and be ridiculed by him.

Bad prof, writing is incomprehensible and marking is hard. Took his religion class, worst philosophy mark i've ever gotten.

Most amazing prof I've ever had the pleasure of learning from. He marks hard, but only because he wants us to learn. He's energetic and hilarious, and wants us to have our own opinions. He gives ample oportunity to come talk to him if you dont understand something. If you like philosophy, this is your man to give you an introduction to it.

Prof. Bailey is one of the most energetic and interesting profs I've had. He gets excited, jumps and down, etc. But, he's scatterbrain, goes off on tangents, forgets to answer questions. I really enjoyed him, but he'd be rough on an intro class since he doesn't spell things out, he makes his students analyze.

Honestly the worst prof I have ever had. Ruined my interest for studying philosophy! Very unorganized and hard to understand. very boring. Very rude and opinionated. Over uses the T.A. On our first test of the year, 60% of the class failed. The highest mark was a B+. In his class, 41% is a pass and I suppose that is so not everyone would fail..

He wastes your time with lectures that do not facilitate taking notes and then testing you on material from the textbook. Avoids/shirks you when you try to speak with him outside of class, and overuses his teachers aid. Overall, he is a good person, but a terrible prof. Does not provide a direction for the course.

I love logic, I hate his teaching. He ridicules students, and his lectures are disorganized and don't facilitate notetaking- and when recorded are unlistenable! His course outline had nothing to do with the way the course was structured. My impression of him is that those who liked him must be new to university or have not yet had a good professor.

Look for another prof. Good in 1st term with logic. Very animated. Likes to shoot down wrong student responses, but wonders why student stop responding. In 2nd term gave 10 days to complete a paper and multiple chapters of reading. Got angry at class when we could not keep up. Assumes Philosophy is your only class. ONLY take him if this is true.

Funny guy, but hard to understand at times. Expressive & intense. I personally found his whole approach to the course a rather theism biased.
