Great professor. He is very passionate about the subjects he teaches. Course includes a book review, two exams and a final research paper. He is a tough marker but it is evident he takes time to go through you papers thoroughly as he provides good feedback. Exams are fair.

Best prof ever! I would take any course with him. So entertaining and passionate about what he teaches. I took a 3 hour twice a week evening course with him and never got bored! Look for him when taking history classes!

Took history of science with him, he was great! His lectures are him talking with no slides though so it's you taking notes the whole time. you definitely have to be there for it or you miss out. He is also very enthusiastic about his content and it shows and keeps you focused! Definitely fair marker and offers some choice on the final

Took History of Modern Medicine with him. He is a very interesting and knowledgable prof. His lectures are very interesting and you must attend to get the notes (no required textbook). He is also a fair marker. He is always available to help students, even outside his office hours.

He is tough, but fair. Very smart and interested in what he teaches which makes it easy to listen. I felt like he picked favorites in the class and that he did not like me and that cost me marks on tests (clearly demonstrated i knew the answer 100% but used a textbook exaple... got 2/20). He definatley pushes students to do better.

Boring... Lectures are completely useless (he doesn't test on them, the exam is purely on the readings) but you have to go for participation grades. Just talks (drones) about the British. You'll do well if you suck up and talk and write about what he says he wants to hear.

Course work wasn't hard, but if you need clarification, don't ask him, he won't help you. You need to use some teaching aid instead of just talking, maybe half of the people wouldn't fall asleep then!!

Chooses words very carefully and gives quite eloquent lectures. Dresses and acts very professionally which is refreshing. Despite this, he can be disarmingly funny at times. A really nice guy with high expectations. Highly recommended, but I felt at times that he was subtlely injecting his own worldview into the material. A one-sided narrative.

James is a great professor. He cares about his students and honestly wants them to do well. His lectures are amazingly organized and he loves the content. I'm glad he chose the world of academia and left his career as a microbiologist.

WARNING: FIRST CLASS WILL SCARE THE CRAP OUTTA YOU. he talks way too fast and barely takes a breath. says it's an easy course, but it's not. some of the hardest reports EVER (ie on a whole book, and doesn't give much time.) don't you dare ask for an extension either.

Best prof EVER! Here's the deal: Thorough course outline detailing what to read for each lecture. each week there was a lecture outline, detailing what he was going to talk about. He loves the stuff and it comes through! in the end, all you need to study is the course outline! (if you listened)
