Jim is awesome and very professional! Expert in the field. Truly care about his student and replies to email super quick! Lectures were heavy so get ready to study but content was super interesting. One of the best professor in the university. Highly recommended!

Really passionate, which makes his lectures interesting! Always willing to answer questions . You can tell he really cares if his students do well and wants them to succeed. Exams are straightforward and very fair! Labs involve a research project, but you have almost the whole semester to do it. Excellent prof, highly recommend this course!

He really cares about the students. His courses are speckled with interesting discussion points and I really enjoyed the human behaviour components. A bit bombastic and very vocal, but willing to listen.

His tests are extremely difficult and he is a tough grader. His feedback on work submitted is impossible to read, and not very helpful. He lectures enthusiastically but goes exceptionally fast. Be prepared to invest a lot of time into the exams and projects in this course.

My favourite prof in the university. So passionate and knowledgeable in what he teaches. While there was a lot of information packed into the lectures, they were all really interesting so that made studying easier. Very prompt responses to emails and gives good feedback on projects, etc. Truly cares about his students. Definitely recommend him!

Comment:

This was an amazing class taught by a top-notch prof. There is a lot of information packed into each lecture so be prepared to study, but I found that a lot of it was so interesting that remembering the important stuff isn't terribly difficult. Use of humor in lectures, very approachable, and prompt at answering emails. Seriously one of the best!

Dr Hare is a brilliant professor and he probably has a photographic memory, which is really cool BUT it seems like he expects his students to have the same memory. The content of the course is very interesting but he packs lots of information in so be prepared for a lot of studying come exam time!

Amazing prof!!! Easily the best prof in the bio department if not the university. Exams were tough but fair, if you know his notes you will be fine. He is such a nice guy and always willing to help students; highly recommend him!!

This course was straight forward and the prof was lovely. Yes there is going to be a lot of memorization and understanding of the concepts(concepts are relatively stright forwards due to Dr. Hare amazing notes making skill and presentation), exams were only based on notes with no tricky questions. if u work hard on it you will be fine.

He has a tendency to say something extremely rude to your face about your grade performance, and then one second later laugh at it to try and remove the tension. Its awkward and mean. Course is information OVERLOAD. He will answer emails to help with assignments, but this course is a lot of work - while studying pick out the important stuff.

Dr. Hare is outstanding. He is a strong teacher and mentor. He's got amazing ideas and insight into research. Worst point (just to be fair): He could slow down just a bit and listen more carefully. I attribute this to the coffee! You learn more here than in 2+ other courses combined! His knowledge is encyclopedic, and well presented. Thanks Jim!

AMAZING PROF!!!!! I have never met anyone so willing to spend time helping students and so interested in what they were teaching. Makes the class even more interesting. Sometimes runs off on unrelated tangents and really shouldn't drink soooo much coffee!! Recommend highly!!
