Very unclear professor, it will take you three weeks to understand the 28 page syllabus (yes 28 pages). If you are looking for an easy History class, this is not it. Heavily group oriented, but he can be very unclear, which leads to poorer grades. A lot of work for a history core class.

Group work the whole semester for everything - Field Trips and Midterm/Final Project. Everything thing is an easy A as long as you write what he wants. Super caring and funny. A real people person. Always in a bright mood and fav prof this year. Pay attention to the details. Dont let the syllabus scare you, you can do it!

The Colonel is honestly the best professor I have ever had. There is a bit of a work load, but as long as you stay on top of your assignments, you will be fine, and the class is 100% worth it. He cares about each one of his students and will continue to look out for you even after the class ends.

Colonel runs the class in military style. All assignments are done with your "team" which is assigned at the beginning and used the whole semester. Tons of field trips so bigger time commitment than other classes. Lots of assigned reading but you can get away with not doing any of it. Strict with due datestimes so don't be late. Reasonable person.

Colonel Johnson is by far one of the best professors at Marist! The syllabus may seem overwhelming at first but the course is easy and is a lot of team work. As long as you do your readings, homework and projects you should be more than fine! He's a great guy who really cares about each student.

Awesome professor! Not into history but he made things fun and interesting! Homework assignments due each class, trip reports, and case study. No tests. Students help teach the class. Easy grader. Let's you edit everything in your portfolio at the end. Don't be intimidated by the syllabus.

Probably my fav professor at Marist. VERY highly recommended. Class is not a walk in the park. Small hws due every class, but as long as you do them, youre fine. Very receptive to students ideas and criticisms. Dont be intimidated at first by the crazy syllabus. Probably the most fun/ interesting class I've taken to date.

Johnson is one of the most interesting and fun professors you will find. If you have him for Hist of mid hudson valley you go on 7 trips which are time consuming but really fun. Class is always exciting and dynamic but it does require TONS of work. You do a huge case study and portfolio and midterm/finals are very long. You have to be committed

American Military History is a great course with an excellent professor. Professor Johnson is a great professor that is very knowledgeable. There is a bit of work which includes homework due every class, a midterm case study, and final case study. This was one of my favorite professors and courses with battle reenactments with toy soldiers.

Colonel Johnson is one of the best professors at Marist. Don't feel daunted when he contacts you in the middle of the summer talking about assignments and giving you a 23+ page syllabus. It's really not that bad! There is a lot of work, but he makes it enjoyable. If you participate in your teams and do all of your work you will earn a great grade.

Professor Johnson is awesome. Very effective teacher but don't be fooled. This class is not a walk in the park. There were 10 plus books required for this course; most of them only ten pages long. Field trips are fun. Everything is done in groups which helps a lot. Be prepared to learn and read but have one of the best teachers @ Marist.
