Took her for study of short fiction, and she is by far one of my favorite professors at SMU. you have to do your work and show up to class, and then you will get a good mark. taking an extra semester to fulfill a minor requirement, and thinking about taking one of her courses just for fun...

I took her poetry class and her short fiction class and loved them both. Her poetry class is great because she known everything about the poets and even some facts you probably wouldnt know..she is so funny and tends to wander off into non related topicsbut it makes u laugh,she is fair and if u go to class and actually participate she will luv u 2

Quite friendly and makes an effort to 'know' her students on a more personal (ie: friendly) level. I encourage international students to take her class. Providing that you have an interest in the course she will love having you present in class, and will let you (student) know that you are welcome. Not a rigorous course. Focus is appreciation.

there were several people in class with the same first name as me, kept getting me mized up with other students. got 4/5 on all quizzes, missed one class, and got B on the final, and somehow got an F? This prof may seem nice, but is a wolf in sheeps clothing

Janet is so nice! shes a great prof and very helpful. Gave me 15% just for showing up to class and giving feedback to her during class. Take this class if you want an A. She has little paitience with international students who cant speak english very well. I cant blame her for that. I took this class not liking english lit, and I left loving it.
