Greatest teacher, but he is gone. Sadly, the TA hacks replacing him via eConcordia are stunningly unprofessional and incompetent. Such a great class has been turned into a tedious disaster without any prof to consult. Shame that those who designed the final exam seem to know so little about the content of the class.

Compare with my effort and my grade, he's an easy marker. Very easy going as well. His class was interesting, though he did not care about attendance. Come if you want, just make sure you hand in your assignment. he even emailed the assignments to everyone just in case if anyone didn't come to the class. Very cool professor indeed.

It was a very interesting online class since you watched the professor explore buildings. It almost reminded me of watching the discovery channel. The only problem was the organization of the online class. Some of the lectures didn't work, took forever to get any information on our midterm,paper and final.The online classes needs to be organized

Great Prof. Knows way too much on Montreal arch and history! People did not show up on the walks but it was their loss! Easy marker, says he never fails people, of course you have to hand in your 2 essays, common sense. Also dont be fooled by the first walk its the longest by far, walked LITERALLY the length of the island on St Laurent-11Km! Killer

He has a fairly good grasp of his field, and has visited some of the castles first-hand. I'm not even sure if we got a hand-out for our research papers. He's full of quebecois-jolliness, but there is little in the way of in-depth analysis of the issues. I suppose that's where the self-motivation comes in. Not very helpful for research tools either.

If you like relaxing, maintaining a high GPA, not taking notes, having a few chuckles, barroom philosophizing - then take Prof. Belisle's classes. If you prefer to have a grounded education, I suggest you look elsewhere. A nice guy though.

i have taken several classes with him. if a student enjoys the subject, is serious about studying it, and is sufficiently self-motivated to learn, than that student could not ask for a better prof than Jean Belisle. He is brilliant, inspiring, informative, well-connected, helpful and quite clever!

nice guy, very involved in the material, interesting, being outdoors was cool, and no notes required, although a little too easy going for me at times , didnt motivate me enough to come to class, if your into profs like this take this course .

Heis class was really easy and you can tell that he really loves what he does and wants others to love it as well. the only problem was that he talks very quietly and you have a very hard time hearing him. Sit in the first few rows and you will be fine!

Crazy amounts of field tripping, lots of freedom to do research you care about, very relaxed. His walking classes are logistical nightmares, though... too many students to hear him talking over traffic oftentimes.
