Jeff was a great lecturer - he really respects his students. However, I cannot stress how many of his test questions are either ambiguous or so esoteric you can't even tell what they're testing - even the TA had no clue for a few of them. Despite that and an insane amount of textbook reading, curve is cut-throat which is magnified in a small class

A really great, smart, engaging person. The material is super interesting and easy to understand, but the midterms and finals are super hard and the textbook is absolutely required. Some how, I have no idea how, the average of the class was super high, so the bell curve was so stupid... my grade was in the mid 80s and i got a B-.

Not a bad class! Lectures are kinda dull since he literally just goes over examples of studies in class; most of the "meat" in the course comes from the textbook I found. I HATED the curve though. It likely will not help you - the averages are typically pretty good (I think the final average for our class was about 78).

I really enjoyed him as a prof! Really knew his stuff, incorporated videos and real-life recording of experiments into his lectures which made information easy to learn. Tests weren't bad as long as you study and understand the studies he talks about in class. Two midterms and a final so tests are big for this class.

Awesome prof who made a night class enjoyable. Attendance is important since his notes he posts are a basic outline that he expands on. The videos shown in class are very helpful and I found his tests to be fair. If you take the time to learn the material you'll have no problems.

2 noncumulative midterms and cumulative final. They're hard because he has these scenario based questions, which means you can't just memorize things to do well. You have to know your stuff. Go to class because he only posts outlines on eclass. Read the textbook for clarification. And pay attention to his examples. Shows clips sometimes.

Prof Schimel is an interesting lecturer. Be ready to take diligent notes though since he doesn't post any lecture notes besides a basic outline. Textbook readings are also required for the exams but otherwise, his exams are fair.

He is a very funny guy! He made the long night class go by very quickly! He uses many examples to elaborate on the notes. The textbook was very helpful and should be read as his notes are not the best. He was definitely interesting and not bad to look at (it helps).

I preferred reading the textbook over going to Schimel's class. I felt his notes were easily covered by the textbook, and his examples such as videos were completely inaccessible unless you were into sports. His class on racism and prejudice was an embarrassing nightmare. Easy A, but here's hoping you can put up with him...

He's an awesome guy! Not the best prof but not the worst either. His lectures are interesting but tests were difficult. Fill in the blank notes -- so needed to go to every class

Really really loved this course and Dr. Schimel. I don't get people who say it was a hard class, literally all you have to do is show up to class and take notes, and do the assigned readings. It's not unreasonable. I thought he was quite funny and brought in a lot of extra little movie clips and stuff to make things memorable. And so damn cute.

His tests are tough. Average grade is 60-70%, and the class is curved. He covers a huge amount of studies in lectures, and tests on the majority of them, so missing class will easily cost you 8-12 marks on every exam. The text book was super helpful, but again didn't cover most of the studies which he expects you to know.

Schimel can be funny at times... but I would not recommend this class. You have to do a lot of readings and the midterms ask very detailed questions. You're expected to know almost all the studies ever mentioned in lecture and in the textbook. The course content was also very boring. Don't do it.....

One of the best professors I have ever had. Clear, intelligent, helpful, covers the majority of the concepts in class, which is excellent as you can go home with a basic understanding and further your knowledge through reading the book. Tactful - takes into account every comment and uses it to further the information provided in class! Loved 241.

I did not like this class at all. Lectures were not very clear and tough to follow his lecture style. Attend every class and write very detailed notes, but more importantly READ THE TEXTBOOK!!! He loves to test on terms and all the studies he talks about in class and that are in the book. They're all fair game!

To those Science students out there: this is NOT a GPA booster. It's a curved class full of art students and average (B) is low 80s. If your in it- um good luck memorizing 123484 terms, and read the TEXTBOOK!!

He was such a great teacher! I loved how he did lectures - he had fill-in-the-blank notes which were very helpful and he explained things very well. He was very enthusiastic and had 3 exams all MC. Honestly my favourite professor I have had and I'm at the end of third year!

Had many ambiguous questions on his midterms which he himself could barely clarify. He relied on the curve to keep everyone in balance. Lectures were engaging and interesting but I was unsatisfied with his testing and grading. He never even mentioned let alone discussed the results of the first midterm which frustrated me.

Not too boring lectures, he talks at a reasonable speed, and the outlines he provides are very helpful. Reading the TEXTBOOK is a MUST. Sometimes he takes random details from the textbooks (like 3 questions/test), but 95% of the time his tests are easy and fair. There isn't much material, which is nice. Also, he seems friendly
