Fun, stimulating, and caring. Three words that definitely apply to Dr Kay. And there are brownies. Lots of homework, quizzes every week. Pay attention, do the homework, come to class and ask questions and the grade will take care of itself. Also be sure to ask her if there are commas in JFlap...

Comment:

Talks in circles. Spent all of Robotics teaching 3D coord. systems, but we are using robots on 2 wheels that will never fly up in the air so it's pointless. Homework was ridiculously long for how easy the class is. Robotics with Kay is 10% robotics, 90% irrelevant linear algebra. Nice, but over-complicates everything & un-inspires students to work.

I took her sophomore year in the fall semester for Foundations of Computer Science. She says in the beginning of class that this is "Discrete Structures II" but thankfully she is completely wrong. She is very delightful and has a fun teaching style. She does give out a lot of homework but overall, the class isn't so bad.

I took Robotics with Dr. Kay my senior year as an elective. There were a lot of math computations and writing in Objective C but so worth it. She is very thorough with her knowledge and is cutting edge.

I took her for Found of CS. The class load is huge, definitely plan on spending 12 hours ish a week, lots of homework. The good news is that the homework is not worth a whole lot for your grade. She makes your grade everyone else's homework too, which kind of annoys me, but Kay is amazing so it's worth it. She gives past exams to help you study,

Dr. Kay is an amazing professor. Her weird antics and "baby talk" way of teaching may be off-putting at first, but trust me, it is REALLY helpful. She gives a lot of quizzes (one pretty much every class) but they are truly the reason many people passed. They force you to learn the material. Overall, she is fantastic.

Jennifer Kay is an outstanding teacher. Seems very prepared daily, but is flexible if class isn't understanding material. If you're actually a CS major, she makes intro to programming a bit too dumbed down but you do learn. Excellent teacher, excellent class, deff. going to take her again.

Excellent teacher to take. Very nice and will go off on tangents on purpose just to keep your attention. The material was slightly confusing but pay attention and just ask for help and she'll go over it until you get it. And yes, she DOES make you brownies, unless they come out wrong, then she'll buy them instead.
