took her for 2 semesters one i liked the next not so much. Why she is good: easy to talk to, you put in the work she would help you when grading comes, nice and respectful, tough grader why she is bad: unclear at times, gives us politically bias articles and forces us to use them in papers. If u and her dont see eye2eye it is hard to write papers

Comment:

Professor Mantle is a genuine professor who wants you to improve in your writing skills. However, this makes her a very tough grader. Even after attending the Writing Center and receiving a peers feedback, I still received an 85% on a paper that was my best work. She leaves the last 20 minutes of class to work on homework.

Prof. Mantle is a really cool person who cares so much about what she's teaching but really encourages class participation. She gets annoyed when she can tell no one read, but all of the readings she assigns are easy and actually interesting. She offers extra credit, but is very specific in what she wants.

If you can write decently well you can achieve an A-. I truly beleive Mantle is giving a bad wrap on this site. Use her office hours for the papers and she will see that you are trying. Everytime i went to them my grade went up. She also pushed you to not be a decent writer, but a perfect one. I truly believe my skills were honed by this woman.

I really enjoyed Mantle's class. She is a SUPER tough grader but it made me a better writer in the end because I had to work extra hard on my essays. She is very helpful when you go out of your way to get it. She isn't gonna hand things to you. I liked her so much Im taking her again for Lit

Comment:

Mantle is a great teacher. Her classes consist of a lot of group discussions as a class about the material. MAKE SURE YOU READ and annotate because it will come in handy and she's always asking. Overall the class goes by quick if you participate and are active in the discussions which are contemporary and relative to today.

I literally waited until my last semester of college to take Lit because I am not a big reader. Professor Mantle made the class very interesting and led good discussions. MAKE SURE YOU DO THE READINGS AND UNDERLINE PASSAGES! Very understanding professor- just don't be lazy. She love class participation so do the readings.

Tough grader!! Didn't get higher than a B on any assignment. You always have HW and at the end of the semester you'll have a group writing project (business writing class) make sure you get the book! If you can afford it, buy it because there is a ton of useful techniques

I did not like having Professor Mantle for EN 101. She was not a horrible teacher, but she was sometimes rude and didn't listen to the opinions of the students which was important because we often had very opinionated discussions based on the textbook.

I enjoyed most of the readings we did in this class but I've never been so harshly graded on papers before. She is brutal when it comes to grading. The class would be great otherwise, she is sarcastic but I like that as opposed to the many dry profs.

whoever says that she is nice is wrong! she is very stuck up and if she doesn't agree with something you say, instead of responding verbally, she will give you a nasty look. she thinks way too highly of herself to take any of her students seriously. she is too stubborn and rude to be a successful teacher. AVOID HER!
