I didn't know what my grade was the entire semester, everything is weighted differently and he disabled the feature that lets you see your overall grade. No textbook, he gives you all the readings... Overall, it was easy, but the midterm and final are NOTHING like the quizzes. They don't prepare you whatsoever, so heads up for that.

We never actually used the textbook, but a significant portion of both the midterm and final was based off of the textbook, so I would recommend buying it. (He tells you which parts you need to study). He takes attendence every class, and the lectures are also on the exams. If you're naturally good at writing, it's easy to get As on the speeches.

The class has 3 speeches and 2 exams with the rare online assignment. Dr. Katt is very organized and teaches well. Every now and then he'll get off on an interesting tangent. He did co-author the book and recommends buying it; there are maybe 2-3 questions per exam that reference the book. I never read it and did just fine.

Dr. Katt was very knowledgeable and organized. While the lectures could turn tangential occasionally, they were always entertaining and focused on the core subject. The class format made presentation of speeches feel more manageable, and he gave good feedback both immediately afterward and when grades were released.

Lectures were always interesting, filled them with personal stories and anecdotes. Two exams, a midterm and final, both 50 question multiple choice that is straight out of lectures and readings, very low intensity. Read each chapter once, made an A on both tests. Only bad thing is that it's impossible to perfect a speech- very high Bs only.

I took his honors class and it was great. I didn't want to take speech, but he made it easy and painless. Three speeches, very clear requirements, be sure to keep up with the readings because that's where the tests come from. Stay on top of your work and you can easily manage an A.

Dr. Katt is an interesting man. He can be very long winded, but most of the time funny and amiable. Speech grades can be harsh, but you can make up for it with assignments and exams. One midterm and final, easy if you READ THE BOOK! He was one of the authors so the questions are right from the text. Not much work at all except speeches and reading!

Dr. Katt is a great teacher. He is very understanding and always willing to answer questions and help out students. He is hard to reach through email, your best bet is to speak to him during his office hours. His tests are very hard, no matter how much you study, but if you show him you are trying and interested in learning, he is very helpful.

Cool guy, very good at teaching this class. Very fair grader, if a little hard. Most people get B or B+ on their speeches. Tests are easy as long as you read the chapters before you take them.

Very fun and good teacher. Lessons are important in life. Explains his lessons simply and clearly. Not an easy A homework is mainly preparing speeches. He can be a tough judge on speeches but is fair. Prepare to study for tests. Q's make you think.

It's difficult to get an A on the speeches - however, if you skim the chapters for the mid-term and final - you can bring up your grade drastically. I made Bs on the speeches and As on the tests. End result A-
