Comment:

While an amazing person, Dr. Weiss does not teach well. She is super quiet, so you have to sit in the front row, when you go to office hours she is very unhelpful, and when you ask her to slow down in class she will not. Her tests are very consistent with the problems in the TEXTBOOK, but gives Webassign homework that is unhelpful. Do not take her!

Comment:

Joan is caring professor, but she is a hard grader. She lectures the entire class without nearly ever taking a breath. When lecturing, she is not always the clearest and can be confusing from time to time. She cares about her students and if you are confused going to office hours can be a great help. There are 2 exams, 3 quizzes, and a Final Exam.

Not always the best at explaining things but the homework online helps clear up most difficulties. She gives a lot of bonus points on tests and doesn't give any questions you haven't seen before.

Comment:

Professor Weiss is an absolute sweetheart. She can sometimes be confusing but the class is not hard if you learn things easy. Homework has unlimited attempts. Many chances to gain extra points between extra credit questions on test/quizzes and completing class reflections that she makes. Do the extra homework problems from the textbook for tests.

Dr. Weiss is my favorite math prof I've had at Fairfield. She is so sweet and she really cares about her students. She explains things very well and is super helpful in office hours. Her exams are very fair (and bonus points) and she's also a fair grader. The final was very very similar to the three exams.

Professor Weiss is a very nice woman who knows what she is talking about. However, she seems to have a little bit of a hard time explaining what she is talking about which makes it a bit hard if you're not the best at math, but then again linear is a major course. If you are not understanding she will take time to talk to you outside of class.

Very friendly woman, open to questions all the time and will explain something until you understand it. Amazing professor, knows what she is talking about and is very well respected. Homework is online via MyMathLab. Only complaint is that tests are pretty difficult if you aren't keeping up with all material. Take her if unsure for math professor!

Look exactly like Mrs. Hogenson, short lady w black hair that made the Incredibles their suits, but a decent teacher. She is very smart and needs to be reminded to show more examples. Exams are fair and homework has unlimited tries so you can keep going until you get a 100. She likes to close her eyes when talking so speak up if you have a question

Not an amazing teacher, but not awful at all. Sometimes she struggled to explain things clearly, but if you really pay attention, ask questions and seek out extra help (if you need it) she will be helpful. Also, she gives you a lot of opportunities to raise your grade.

DO NOT take this woman for an upper level course. Look through all the comments. You will notice everyone who has taken her from Linear gives her a terrible rating. Seems like she is fine for a calculus course, but nothing else. DO NOT TAKE HER FOR LINEAR. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

Weiss isn't as bad as people are making her out to be. She can have problems communicating sometimes but she means well and is very smart. If you go to class and show even the slightest level of interest, she'll help you out. The subject of Calculus is hard so no teacher is going to make it that easy. online quizzes can be taken over and over.

This is the LINEAR algebra class....DO NOT take this lady for Linear. I'm sure she would do fine for a Calc class, but she simply cannot teach Linear. Unclear, tests are hard, and cannot help you if you do not understand the material. Poor job of explaining things to the class. You will do awful if you don't understand the material.

For someone who hated math in high school she made it really easy to understand the material, answered all questions and explained sometimes over the top, quizzes easy if u do the hw or at least go to class and online quizzes you can take until you get 100!

Nicest lady ever! Always willing to help. Loves the subject and wants her students to do great! So many opportunities to raise your grade. Quizzes and tests are not that hard if you study and pay attention in class

She was the WORST teacher ever, she looks at the ceiling when she talks and if you ask her a question before a test she refuses to answer. She talks way too fast and does not cover the material sufficiently, DO NOT TAKE HER!

She's an ok professor. If you have some calc knowledge beforehand, it really isnt that bad. She doesn't really write out all of the steps on the board, but if you ask her, she does explain herself. Lots of small quizzes, a majority are online so you are able to take them multiple times to get a 100. Her tests are basic, and are not that bad.

Comment:

She can be very confusing, especially if you are not that great with math. If your willing to put in extra effort though, she will always make time to help you can negotiate test dates with her if you cant take one that day. Attendance and homework arent mandatory. Its very funny when she talks to herself while writing on the board.

She is extremely confusing. She is all over the place. She gives horrible notes and stumbles as she speaks. She doesn't believe in fully explaining everything. If you have already taken a calculus class then it is not that bad but if you haven't, good luck.
