Joel Richiemer was the best professor that I have ever had. He introduced me to a new way of thinking about the world. He is a true teacher, the ultimate intellectual, and such a wise person. With all his knowledge and wisdom, it's unbelievable how down-to-earth, nice & available he is. I will always treasure the time I spent learning from him.

One of the most brilliant professors at Kenyon. I randomly decided to take his Ancient Philosophy class and years later I still think this course was the best one I took in college. He is so animated, he makes everything exciting- which is amazing for a topic that is thousands of years old. He will make you think!!

Joel is the smartest person that I probably have ever come in contact with. He presents such difficult concepts so clearly, and literally knows everything. He could easily be in multiple departments at Kenyon. Every day I leave class, I feel like my world has been shattered. TAKE HIS CLASSES

Had Richeimer for several courses. Smart, funny, immensely helpful, strangely dressed. Fairly demanding, though soft around the edges. His paper comments are especially thorough--I just wish he assigned more papers! Symbolic Logic was a lot of fun, as was Epistemology. Go to office hours and talk about robots/Quine/Sellars/Japan.

Joel is perfect. My favorite professor at Kenyon. Well, he lets students blather on about philosophy about which they know nothing. But other than that, one of the most interesting and engaging people I've ever known. TAKE HIS COURSES. Grading might be tough, but you just have to review your notes.

Not an easy professor; loves to give pop quizzes and tests. Lectures can be interesting or awful, depending on the day. Likes to ramble on. Plays favorites, especially with Phil majors. Class required a great deal of work, but 80% of the total points came in the last two weeks. Hard grader, gives lots of negative points for wrong answers.

Are you serious? The only reason you wouldn't understand symbolic is if you're absolutely retarded. The man is not only amazingly kind and one of the most brilliant teachers on campus, he is also ridiculously patient. That might be the only problem with him: he is too patient with people Take him!
