Comment:
Yeah, he's getting up there and can ramble a bit but Klein is great. Loves the material and up for a beer with students at the VI. One of those classes thats more about learning from the man than the material. A good experience

He's been clocked out for a while and is, by now, essentially a living fossil. Surprisingly harsh when it comes to grading. Rewards and encourages simple-mindedness.

I took two English courses this year with Professor Klein and loved every class. say what you will about the man, but I went from a B- on my first paper to an A on the last few, and that's all thanks to him. I am a much better writer now, and at the end of the day, isn't that all that matters?

He promises the class As, so take him if you're just trying to fulfill diversification requirements/want a GPA boost. You'll be bored, and he may humiliate you in front of your classmates/make weird remarks about attractiveness of his former students, but at least you'd get an A.

Klein is such a nice guy, but he's incredibly opinionated - he rambles on and on about who knows what. He promised all of his students all A's as long as they did all the assignments and all of the readings. It's an easy class, but you almost feel bad that it's so damn easy.

A very sweet man, but really needs to retire. He is kind and honestly interested in his students, but the class lacks direction, challenging material or useful feedback. Your time would best be spend in a different English course, most likely ANY other.

A nice guy, but honestly, an awful teacher. He probably is brilliant, and may have been a great teacher years ago, but is now incomprehensible. He rambles from subject to subject, then continues to ask questions that make no sense; our class often sits in silence until someone asks what the hell he is talking about. Our grades are always late.

Comment:
Any of my high school English teachers would teach this class better than Professor Klein. He is completely incomprehensible and uninspiring - my class was usually silent. He gives almost no feedback on papers, and when he does it's very vague and sometimes even rude. He is stuck in a rut and refuses to have an open mind about literature.

Comment:
Fantastic professor if you are willing to discuss the reading in class and understand his sense of humor. A little vague on paper topics, but usually pretty generous when it comes to grading. He's always helpful, you just have to be willing to ask him the questions. He really appreciates good writing when he sees it.

Comment:
This man is ridiculous. He talks constantly and incomprehensibly about the University of Chicago, a slew of self-aggrandizing stories, etc. Totally random grader--his paper topics make no sense, and he contradicts himself constantly when he describes what kind of paper he wants you to write. Made me afraid to be an English major.

Klein is senile so you could just have fun listening to him ramble and say crazy things. He was, however, the worst professor I've ever had. He is incredibly vague about paper topics, contradicts himself non-stop, and will never be satisfied with your writing. He caused me to have a terrifying 4 month long writers block.

I took this clown for Stories and Story Tellers...he actually called me ugly on one of my papers. An incredibly two-faced, arrogant professor who needs to realize that just because he went to the University of Chicago doesn't mean that we want to hear about it daily.

Worth taking just for his stories about Kenyon and deer sh**. Our class was really close, we were all stage crew in H.S. and had read the chronicles of narnia. Quite a group, we even had a party with klein at the end of the year. I couldn't imagine anyone making Anglo-Saxon so much fun or interesting. You should take this class.
