I love this man so much. Makes MCOM101 interesting. He gives you all the necessary information to do very well on the test and he does not grade the short answer parts hard. If you go to class, listen, and take notes you will do really well. He really cares and is willing to help you out if you hit a bump in the road. Take him for MCOM101!

One of my favorite professors at Towson. His classes are so enjoyable and he makes it fun and interesting. He is very passionate and makes the students feel passionate about their work as well. 10/10 would recommend. Definitely take his class.

Get ready for A LOT of notes and and hard tests... you need to make sure you copy every note if you want to pass his tests. He is also a hard grader when it comes to his three essays throughout the semester. Nice, funny man but very tough grader and hard class. Lecture very heavy

Comment:

Before this class, I despised history. Professor Kirch brought events from the past to life for me and helped me to see how they connect to the present as a journalist. Lectures were always interesting, especially when it led to class discussions. Exams were tough but if you study hard, you'll do fine. Lots of notes to take! Excellent prof!

This was the class that I have learned the most in here at Towson. He is so knowledgable and his exams are SO easy (if you study). 2 exams, 6 "enterprise stories," and random classwork. His stories have a couple different types including 2 news features, a profile story, an event story, a meeting story, and a police beat. I would recommend.

Dr. Kirch is sooooo passionate about the things that he teaches. This class is a history class, which I normally wouldn't like that much, but his passion and interest makes it easier to get through. Not many assignments, just a couple of papers and exams. Exams require studying, but if you study well you will pass. Definitely not the worst class

Excellent, hands-on class that gets you out there and learning how to interview and report. You have to really work for your grade, the lectures are interesting and informative, and he makes himself available to you for extra help. The best thing is that Dr. Kirch gives you detailed feedback & your writing improves.

I actually was kept interested for the entire semester; each lecture was useful and insightful, and he shared personal stories to drive the point home. He is pretty opinionated but is open to hear everyone's view as well, the class is conversational. He is a bit of a tough grader when it comes to papers, but he will work with you if needed.

He is just such a good teacher and so helpful. I you show up and make an effort there is no way you will get below a B. Attendance does count and participate so he'll help u out in the end. TAKE HIM. you will not regret it. There's 6 online quizzes, 2 2 page essays and, 3 tests and 1, 6 page career assessment essay & a group presentation (Mcom101)

Taking him right now!! Love kirch, he knows his stuff and helps you understand everything. You will be perfectly fine if you STUDY and do all the assignments. The class is full of discussion and extremely interesting topics. Seriously love this class and his style of teaching! Only reason he doesn't have a 5.0 is because hes a a tough grader :)

Professor Kirch is a nice and funny guy. He knows what he's talking about, and is passionate about the material. A lot of work in the class though. Six online quizzes, three papers, three tests, and a group project near the end. The tests are long due to the fact that some questions are tricky, and most of the test is written. Make sure to study.

Kirch's class was interesting, conversational, and allowed for us students to voice our opinions on media. Does not post powerpoints online so attendance is a must. Tests are long, and require more than a little studying, but the information sticks with you, and will help you in the long run. Whether it's your major or not, take him! Great class

A very good teacher, who knows his stuff and is extremely fun and interesting. He knows how to make the class not only about notes, but fun activities as well. One thing is that he has a slight bias, but I think that is one of the best things about the class because finally a teacher isn't afraid to talk openly about their viewpoint.

He's so cute and smart! Never dreaded going to this class. You really don't have homework, but there are a few papers (but they're not bad). Kirch has worked in the field of Mass Communication so he really knows what he's talking about. He's kind of a harsh grader though. You will benefit highly from doing the chapter review questions before a test

Nice, helpful guy. Must come to class to get notes, unfortunately tests are all short answer, but he provides study guides. Knows what he's talking about, a lot of class discussions, work on your research paper early! Go to every class and put in the work, and it's not a difficult A if you're interested.

Not going to lie, it's a tough class. But wow did I learn a lot, and it's all thanks to Kirch. He's so knowledgeable and you can tell he wants his students to succeed. He has a lot of experience in the field and I would recommend this class and Kirch in general to anyone.

Kirch realizes this is a 101 class, he's tough but not too tough, fair in grading and anyone can pass his tests if they show up every day listen closely, and do all the assignments. This class is not Rocket Science. He's very professional & flexible
