This man is an absolute genius. While the coursework basically boils down to distilling his ramblings into essays for his tests, sitting in his class and being utterly enlightened by the way he simplifies the rise of human civilization down to basic tenets was well worth the uninspired coursework. Easy A. Note his themes. Write them back.

Lomax is an interesting professor. He is very knowledgeable but has a hard time conveying the knowledge and giving you the information that is relevant. While I did well in the class I have no idea why. His grading is terrifying, his criteria is how he feels about your paper. He will make you write ALOT at least 1 essay a week. good person bad prof

Dr. Lomax is easily the worst professor I have ever had. He is very boring in class and doesn't accept anyone else's opinions even if the question's opinion based. One day he's your best friend and the next day, he doesn't accept any answer as correct from you. His "lectures" aren't really lectures but instead random thoughts that pop into his head

His lectures are long and boring with not much point to them. He only believes in writing papers and assigns many of them. He is a very knowledgeable man but has a hard time reaching his point. He skips around and doesn't follow the syllabus. I would avoid taking this class if possible at all.

This was supposed to be a transitions to college class and it was my hardest class. His lectures are terrible, too many uhms. Pretty sure he assigns random grades. Don't take unless you have no other choice. Even then don't take it.

this man is amazing. He's a tough professor and expects a lot out of his students, but it's because he cares. He doesn't accept lame excuses or bs. Show up for class, do the work, and you'll be fine!!!!

Very knowledgeable & has passion, but awful teacher, and I like histoy. Painful to listen to, very unclear on assignments & doesn't justify the grade. Says uhm and ah so much you get distracted, he goes on rants & doesn't even know whats on the syllabus. I got stuck in here not knowing to avoid the L's in history. Awful class, I don't recommend it!

Do not take this class unless you have to- end of story! He has good intentions, and wants to help, but for a 10 second answer he will honestly stay an hour after class!!! Counted his "uh"s and "uhmm"s in one 50 minute lecture and got somewhere around 680!!

Very knowledgable. One of my favorite professors I've had at ONU. He's tough, but the class isn't impossible if you do the reading and show up to class every day. I enjoyed listening to his lectures last year.

He lacks a certain politeness at times, but there is no doubt that he is one of the most intelligent and effective professors employed by Ohio Northern.

He's absolutely intelligent, bright, and sharp. The man knows a great deal. A great lecturer, though some of the things he lectures about are irrelevant. He's also a really tough grader; has high expectations. He also makes sure you think you're an idiot if you fail to get a 13/20 or above on his quizzes. He's simply a tough professor.

Very interesting individual. Speaks randomly in class of things you will never be quizzed over. Quizzes are beginning of chapter essay questions that he grades as if you were suppose to be an accomplished historian like himself, or something. I am a near 4.0 student and was forced to drop the class and retake under a different professor.

He is an excellent prof for upper division classes. I can't say I would recommend him for WCIV. He is great for Historiography. He will drive you crazy in that class, but you feel like a better writer in the end because of it. Take for an upper division of interest. You won't regret it.

Good professor. Interesting. Willing to help if you ask. Understanding, generally. Tests are difficult and in essay format. It's impossible to get an A if you get behind in your reading. Would take another class with him.

Can be very difficult if you don't know what it is he's looking for in essay quizzes. Most of the time you will do better if rather than regurgitating passages from the text you go a step further in your answer and draw conclusions. He's a nice guy, very fair. If you don't like history and/or can't think critically, take someone else. All essay.

Dr. Lomax has an interesting class. His lecture is from his knowledge, but you have to read the book for the weekly quizzes (which are moderately easy). His lecture is more about WHY and the book is WHAT. His tests are challenging but is mostly from lecture (along with videos & guest speakers). Pretty funny guy, kinda strange but knows his stuff.
