I had him his 1st sem., so maybe he's changed. It was just too unorthodox -- papers with size 9 font and single spacing, interrupting each other, etc. Comments on my 3 papers include "massive logical glitch," "deeply twisted, "counter-intuitive," & "you try to fudge," but he gave me B+s and A-s.

What's up with his tie fetish? Seems like some sort of object cathexis. At least he has good taste. Listening to him talk about Coetzee reminded me of the scene in Ulysses where Stephen Dedalus goes on about Shakespeare. Luminous, yet frought with peril.

Marx is a golden god. He's brilliant (and knows it)and really funny. It's nice having a prof who'll tease you publically, and will also take flack. He can be irritating with the whole never giving you an answer method of teaching. His class is dependant on participation; he's the best in the dept

Great professor. Highly recommended. He's a lot of fun, incredibly smart, and has an acute ability to help manage students throught the streets of Mumbai. If you go to UR and do not take any of classes, ask for your tuition back.

I have never been so awake in an 8:15. Class moves fast, but it's fun and challenging. He'll get you to talk even if you might not think he will. Dr. Marx's classes are all about discussions, and he's excellent at leading them.

Marx is a pretty smart guy who tries to make class fun, but I couldn't stand his teaching style. He would assign questions before class for the next, and it was really frustrating cause discussion went nowhere. Always gave me the same grade w/o reasoning.
