Hes a character, funny and caring. Hes got ur back and will help you. Very cool lectures. Debates lack clear criteria. His article reviews are easy once you understand his pet peeves. Quizzes are tricky you essentially need to memorize the article because it can be random facts from the article. Great prof once you get the hang of his classes!

Very friendly. History of the Presidency, grades on reviews of assigned articles and quizzes on articles. 3 in class debates, amazing lectures. Youll learn a lot and never be board. Quizzes are tough must remember very specific details from long articles. Not an easy class but interesting and fun.

Dr. Mclarnon is great, funny, caring, and just an overall really cool professor. If you have an A in the course you're exempt from the final so that's motivation to do well. I had him for contours of us history and he is so educated on his subject and always accessible to help you whenever. I loved his class and would definitely take him again

Keep in mind I excel at history (my major) but that said the class is easy if you're willing to put in a LOT of time. This online class is lots of reading, powerpoints with audio lectures embedded, and READING - graded mostly on quizzes (60%); rest is written assignments and discussions. LOTS of time do to work but it's easy&an easy A if you do

Had his American Presidency class on W 6-9pm. Attendance wasn't required but he assigned a long article to read each week and gave a 5 questions quiz on it at the start of each class with multiple extra credit questions usually about just random facts. Grades were papers/debates. Tough grader on papers but tells you and gives detailed criteria

I took History of Political Parties (even though I don't really do politics) based on a professor recommendation of a friend. Best. Decision. Ever. Dr. McLarnon is one of the funniest people I've ever met. He's very chill when it comes to class structure, you hear some amazing stories, and best of all, no final exam so long as you get a A!

Great professor, it was a night class so a 6-9 it was obviously lecture heavy but he made class fun. Funny guy and relates well to his students. Quizzes are based on readings and he's picky about file names but that's because of all the grades he's doing. Overall he's awesome and knows so much about history. Highly recommend this course for BSE maj

I really loved McLarnon's class. If you're not into mostly powerpoints and videos, then don't expect much. But McLarnon's commentary and honesty are great. Be sure to read the assigned readings, and the article summaries are not hard if you actually follow the instructions and look at the examples. An easy class and a great professor.

Mean, rude, tough grader, rips apart your paper and finds every tiny little thing to complain about when grading just to take off more points, he likes to make a fool out of his students and did this to many in class

This guy is the rudest professor I have met at this school. Papers that would come back in the 90's from most professors get 70's from him. Ask him a questions you honestly can't find the answer to? He will make sure you know he thinks there is a way to find the answer without asking him

This professor teaches a fairly easy, laid back course. However, you need to be in class to succeed. You will do weekly readings that can get up to 25 pages that you have to write in depth summaries of. There are debates in the class where all you have to do is show up to pass. We did not have a textbook to use, it just wasn't necessary.

He was awesome. I have him right now for Contours of US History and I think his lectures are really interesting. His tests are crazy easy as long as you study from the study guide he puts on D2L. Taking him again for another history class next semester.

McLarnon is the man. Lectures are interesting and hilarious. Show up. Take notes. Go see him during office hours before the test and he'll give you a list of possible questions. Put forth just a bit of effort and the A is yours, no problem.

Difficult, conservative, but totally worth it. As a person who tends to be more liberal minded, I found it refreshing to hear history from an opposing viewpointwho actually is able to state these conclusions with actual evidence, instead of unfounded hyperbole. Not easy, but what really good classes are. If you really enjoy history, take it.

Only 3 tests throughout the entire year. If you go to his office before the exams, you can get a list of the possible questions. I HIGHLY recommend it as the questions will be difficult if you don't do so. Overall it was a good and easy course. I would recommend him.

This class is SOO easy! He gives you the test beforehand!! Just go to his office hours a few weeks before the test (only three tests a semester) and study it a few times (I studied little chunks at a time a lot and I did very well) and you'll have an easy A! He rarely takes attendance until the end of the semester when he takes it everyday. SO EASY

The professor is hilarious. The course is interesting. As long as you keep up with the work and take good notes you'll be fine. There are three grades for the course and if you have a 93 average or higher between the first two then you don't have to take the final.
