The best business professor I have ever had, Professor Melnyk made this class my favorite of the semester ( and I didn't even think I'd like it)! He is incredibly inspirational, and although he is there for you, he is also not a pushover. He got the best out of us and made sure we did our best without being too strict.

Classes are easy, assignments are mediocre, midterm is tough. To do well in this class you must pay high attention to detail. He will give you SPECIFIC outlines to follow. Fist impressions are important. If you care about his class, you will do fine. The final is a debate. Be prepared, confident and follow his correction notes on your group paper.

As others have already said, he picks his favourites early and your mark will be based on his first impressions. He doesn't think he's right, he knows he's right. He's the worst professor I've had at the University of Winnipeg. (I obtained a good GPA during this year (4.2) and got a poor mark largely because of his apathy and self assuredness.

One of my favorite professors at UofW. Very inspiring and motivating. His classes are challenging but rewarding if you work hard. He wants to see students succeeding and he is very helpful whenever you need extra help. He gives excellent feedback. I have learned a lot from his classes. An admirable person you want to learn from.

The students in class that speak up will excel. He picks his favorites early. If he knows your name you'll do fine. There is no helpful exam review and minimal feedback. He asks open ended questions to start a discussion and then shuts down student responses. He is always looking for a different answer. Avoid classes with him.

He definitely has favourites in class. I participated and would shoot down what I said, but then would help try to make others comments make sense. He encouraged me to sign up for a business competition so I did and then he told me that they needed to add some diversity to the group so I was not chosen.

Students who are motivated & into the courses that this professor teaches will enjoy his classes, for those who are not will find him dry & boring. Instructions for assignments & tests are very clear; grading is fair (its University, not highschool), and he is pretty much always available outside of class. Motivated students tend to do better.

Some of his cases were not well selected. Students sometimes has no idea what he was trying to teach. But most importantly, he is unfair and unreasonable. He is very subjective, and has no idea how to structure a capstone course like this. My suggestion is not to take business strategy if you are not prepared to talk nonsense in class.

He is a teacher with heart. Sometimes, his marking is a little bit strict, but all he wants is to make the students to improve. Mark is not everything, but knowledge is what we should count. I believe he is a teacher who willing to help and care. Go to his office and talk to him. He will welcome you for sure.

I recently graduated from UofM with an honours in commerce and melnyk was my first business prof. He has his moments. Not very helpful; go to his office and he'll try and intimidate you. His lectures were well done however. Since this was my 1st business course i didn't know how to study. Retrospectively, tests were fair.It needs work but not tough
