Before every lab there was a small quiz. You really do not know where the information on the quiz comes from, but some are from the lab manual. I was afraid to ask him questions because he always made me feel stupid when asking him anything. But he grades fairly easy on everything.

Great teacher! I took it during the summer and it wasn't hard at all! Challenging if you don't practice the problems often because every test is cumulative from the very first day! But I recommend him 100%

He's the best for Chemistry, If you have a choice b/w 101 and 103, take 103 with him. He used the book three times. I dl'd mine offline. He tests on ALL material he ever covered every test. Attendance not Mandatory BUT you'll need it to pass.

Class can be boring sometimes but if you concentrate and think about the questions he asks in class, it's really interesting. I highly recommend him to everyone who truly wants to learn something.

He is definately the best teacher I have ever had in my whole life. He makes class easy to understand. He teaches beyond the testbook but clearer and better than the test book. I don't understand why people complained no lab while it's not his fault. If you listen to him carefully in the class and do your homework, you will learn a lot.

Dr. Petty is kind of boring, but he does know the subject material well and tests straight off his notes, not so much the book. Purchase the test packet offered by the chem group at the beginning of the semester. $5 well spent. Test questions come straight off of old tests. If you study of those tests and understand them, you'll ace the tests.

BORING!You kind have to teach yourself. SI meetings help alot. 7 tests drops lowest one.Either HW or quiz each week but he tells you about the quiz. plus final. Attendance dosen't matter as long as you know when stuff is due. OVerall boring teacher. Taught myself. :(

A very very nice guy, genuine concern for you understanding what he teaches. Tests have no tricks and are directly from lectures. I wish he was full time instead of only nights. You are lucky to get this guy.

VERY VERY BORING!!! I didn't learn much and i usually fell asleep. however, its not THAT hard but you do have to study and take notes to understand the tests. also, the SI instructor never showed up to SI so don't bother going.

Ok, so I always make As in Chem and I have a C in here. He is a good teacher, however, you can understand all the material and homework perfectly and fail the test. There are trick questions in the multiple choice. Hes a bobblehead and talks like Mort from Family Guy. Great pass-time to make fun of him. And he never finishes his diet coke...

I never took high school chemistry and passed with an A in his class. You have to study, but he breaks things down real good for you and a lot of things I learned in his class I saw again in Ch131 and Ch132 and was glad he taught it to me well because my teachers for 131 and 132 didn't teach it very well at all. Can be funny.

If you're worried or nervous about taking Chemistry...don't take Jackson!!! Take Petty. Yeah, he has to comic timing of a....chemist, but he's an excellent teacher!
