If you take Professor Rosso all you really have to do is show up to pass. He will sit in a chair the entire class and read from the book. I had maybe 4 graded assignments in 4 semesters. Great guy and he gives his classes snacks. If you're looking for an easy class take him.

Rosso is an alright professor. I decided to take Latin 202 - Vergil because I had been taking Latin for four years prior and wanted to continue learning it. Considering he is the only professor that teaches it, there is really no choice. Latin is not an easy language to learn and there is so much that comes with it. Study and Practice!! to pass.

Dr. Rosso teaches Latin by lecture and works right from the book. I did just fine in my first semester, but I studied a LOT on my own. Definitely form a study group and work on translating sentences with them. There are only a few take-home tests and the open-book final. Be sure to pay attention during class.

His lectures are nearly impossible to sit through, and if you have anxiety, get out now. He will humiliate you in front of the class regardless of your capabilities as a student. You are far more vulnerable to this if you are a girl. He will degrade you and make you feel like nothing. Get one word wrong? He will laugh in your face. Worst professor.

Rosso is a great and somewhat eccentric professor. You have to understand his perspective to understand him and the class. To sum up, he once said in response to my comment about the lofty intellectual level of Roman society and something profound that we translated: "The rest of history has been merely a footnote."

Great guy, very intelligent, but not the best teacher. He isn't very helpful and he sometimes acted annoyed when people asked questions. Instructions were unclear sometimes. The material was kind of hard and boring. Your grade in the class consists of three take-home exams and an in-class final. I got an A-, but I still wouldn't recommend it.

I love Professor Russo's focus on trying to convey Latin from a linguistics standpoint as I feel understanding linguistic rules not only helps with language acquisition, it also aids in interpreting information. This class is best suited highly motivated students interested in honing in on skills that will be required for graduate school programs.

While he seems very friendly and he really does care about each and every student I would avoid taking his classes as much as possible. He can't write on the board and he talks constantly leaving little room for the actual material and he barely explains anything, just brushes over it. You have to do everything on your own, little help is offered.

He is wonderful! If you are the sort of person who needs everything to be spoon fed to you, you probably won't like him. Someone said that he bullies you in class, and this is true, but it is a loving sort of bullying. He loves all of his students, and he is there for them if they need any help. He may seem initially intimidating, but he feeds you!

I have a great deal of respect for Professor Rosso; although I have not had a class of his for two years now,LAT 101-202 were by far the most interesting classes I took in my first two years at WCU. Plus, he tells the best stories

Hes a funny guy and pretty relaxed about attendance. However, the subject matter is very hard and he doesnt do much explaining or going over the material. He rambles about various unrelated topics and translates sentences right from the book. Hard class.

Horrible. He will bully you in front of the entire class whether you deserve it and in most cases when you don't.He reads straight from the book so there really isn't any point in listening to him. He seems to suck the interest right out the room and makes it ten times harder to learn the language.

I didn't do wel because I never did the homework at all. But this professor seriously is easy if you actually do the homework. His only fault is he will bully you in front of the class if you are caught slacking. He sometimes is hard to understand if you haven't gone over grammer in awhile. Very boring, but you can tell he cares. Capricious grader.

Rosso is an awesome guy. I love his jokes. However, the material is just plain hard - no getting around it. I'm dreading going back for Latin 102 this semester. 101 was hard enough! If you dont have an inclination for languages, pass on latin/greek, theyre too hard to just take them for Rosso alone. Even though he is great.

Professor Rosso is an extremely intelligent man. The class itself is a little dry in my opinion, but I could see someone who has a previous interest in Latin really loving him.

He's one of the best professors here, singlehandedly upholding the Classics tradition, and is too smart to be believed. Also a great storyteller and willing to teach really small classes as long as someone is interested. Definitely take his classes, especially Greek!

Tricky language..seems easy until you do a translation and an in-class sentence and destroy it by tiny mistakes. Very nice man, tries to help everyone do things exactly his way. If he thinks you don't know he calls on you and just translates the sentence himself. Have everything prepared..
