This class was not very difficult. Some students don't like professors to have an opinion, but this is a philosophy course. He's very wise and shares his personal experiences and views on things, as he should. If you show up, and do the work you will do just fine.

You do two things in Dr. Washington's class: watch movies and listen to him rant. When he's not bringing race into everything, he sounds like a conspiracy theorist with his "robot evolution" talks. Your only grades are two take home papers. Other than that, watch (admittedly good) movies, deal with his nonsense, and your grade will be just fine.

There are no test, just two papers (midterm and final). His lectures are long with no powerpoint. Very uninteresting. Went to the Bear Claw to get papers done.

Johnny might be the smartest guy I have ever met. However, if you dont agree with his opinions you won't pass. All you do is watch movies then write a midterm and final paper. In my mid term I gave my opinion and got a B. On the final I just agreed with everything he said and got an A. So do that.

Horrible teacher. You do nothing but watch like 5 movies in the class. You have 2 grades for the class which are 2 papers; the midterm and the final. I came to class everyday, did well on the papers and still ended with a B. He does nothing but ramble about his theories as well and they have nothing to do with the class. DO NOT TAKE HIM.

Prof. Washington is a cool (extremely smart) guy. Only 2 assignments (midterm&final) that're both take home. (Don't mess those up.) If you don't understand something, he's willing to help. However, he's from a completely different generation than 99% of students. Some of his notions are out-of-date. BUT, he's always eager to talk about new ideas.

This class is easy and relaxing! The only two things that are graded are the midterm and final so you have to do good on them. The class is more of a current issues discussion, occasionally tying in how it relates to philosophy. A lot of people do not like Dr. Washington but I think he deserves more credit than people give him.

Dr. Washington's PHI is class is where Philosophy goes to die. To say he "teaches"Philosophy is about as legit as saying Kanye West earned his PhD. Traditional Philosophy lessons are cast to the wind, prepare yourself to stomach theories which will leave you questioning not only your sanity but his as well. Avoid this at all costs, ye be warned!

Johnny Washington is not a bad professor. He has very strong opinions but other than that participate in class, ATTEND class and you will be fine. Their are NO tests you will watch about four movies and then discuss about the movies . Write three papers and that's all couldn't ask for more of an easier class.

I would definitely say avoid him if at all possible. He is a pretty good guy, but his class is just brutal. He would ramble on about how the Chinese are stealing his work. He never failed to remind us that he graduated from Stanford. We get it. You like to brag. You only have two actually graded assignments, so if you mess those up, you're toast.

First off, there are a total of two grades in the class. Those are: Midterm and final. Dr. Washington is very hard to understand and does not explain concepts well. Mainly he reads from the textbook. He is unorganized, scattered when lecturing, and gets off topic frequently. I would not recommend taking him.

I took Dr. Washington's class because I was interested in philosophy, but after taking his course, I can honestly say I have not gained much knowledge on the subject. There are only 2 papers for your grade and he grades harshly with no rubric. I had to work hard to get the B that I have and I had a 4.0.

He is one of the worst professors I have ever had at the University. He is very scattered and half the time we end up talking about race and it's a philosophy class. The class is boring and it is a struggle for me to stay awake in the class, plus he is very hard to understand.

Jonny Washington is the GREATEST. He's interesting, funny, & relatable. We watched too many movies IMO but he did his best to relate them to our open, lively discussions. I received an A on all papers/exams but got a B in the course due to attendance, in my defense, I took the course 2nd semester & I didn't want to walk through the snow @ 8AM! Lol.

Interesting fellow. His discussions were watching movies. There were about 3 papers over the whole semester and that was our only grade. Grades without direction, but if you attend class like twice, you should get a B.

He's all over the place. He's nice but didn't seem that concerned about my grade even though I worked my butt off on papers. Its so boring&had to force myself 2 attend class. His voice is deep&hard to understand. The book is dumb&doesn't help at all don't buy it.He's selfish about his own accomplishments. Isn't straight forward on assignments.

He is a good person, awful teacher. You will learn nothing. Your grades will come from movies and take a take home 'mid-term' and 'final'. He will spill some bull about robots taking over and stars becoming self aware, then let movies take over the teaching. He lets students do most of the talking, as he has no point in what he is saying.

this class was absolutely miserable. i had no clue what was going on because he is impossible to understand. the subject matter is so boring that i will never take another philosophy class. many times he would say something and it would unintentionally come off as as offensive to some of the students.

This is the first rating I've ever entered, so that should be an indicator! Nice enough man, but a bad teacher. I am now working on my PhD, and this is the only class ever where I have gotten a B. So, if you want an A, avoid it. I worked hard, went to his office for help, etc. Only take if you absolutely have to do so.
