This class is a midterm and a final and he offers no extra credit. I went to class everyday and did most of the reading and still did bad. He's entertaining to listen to but gets off topic quite a bit. If i knew what I know now I would've taken a different class, not worth it.

This is a course for people who want to learn, beyond grades and other administrative matters. His lectures are beautiful and profound yet fun, so much that I sometimes find myself laughing out loud while watching them. Thank you!

Dr. Hughes is a very fun person to listen to. He is honest and blunt, and generally just a pretty cool guy. He wants you to come to class, but honestly you don't really need to to pass. The only grades given are from the midterm and final, so make sure you study. However, the material provided is comprehensive and simple.

There were only two tests for the whole class. Mostly short answer and essay which he grades poorly. Doesnt even have a blackboard account for the class. Dont expect to know your grade until after the semester is over. He didnt pass back the midterm until the day of the final. Poor communication.

heroic quest was such an easy online class because the study guides were literally exactly the same as the test. only two grades in the class were tests though so that can be hard for some people. he's kinda funny in his lectures so they were fun to watch, but the readings and lectures weren't super necessary unless you want to do exceptionally

Dr. Hughes gives really good lectures. He's funny. This class only comprises of 2 tests, so if you want to do well, come to class. I missed quite a few classes and ended up with a C because there was no grade cushion. The material is hard to understand but he clears it up. The study guides are pretty much exactly what will be on the test.

Took this as an iCourse. Some things were great, some horrible. Positive: Lectures were funny, only two tests (mid-term/final), 90% of the text's were provided for free. Negative: Lectures often don't cover material, VERY unstructured, I didn't know what to do half the time

I would not take this class if you don't have to. He is a great man and interested in his students, but I missed most lectures and all the information was on the power points and his study guides were word for word the material on the test.

DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER IF YOU DON'T NEED HIM. There are only two test, 200 points overall. . He gives you information on the test but not all especially the matching. He is a good teacher but I would not recommend him. The worst part is having the test as the midterm its very late to drop the class. I would take the other mythology teacher.

I really enjoyed taking class from him. His class was fun and enjoyable because he would speak as if having a conversation rather than giving a lecture. Be aware, he only gives a couple tests each semester with no other grades. Great if you know your stuff, but if you don't do the reading or listen to lectures, you're screwed.

I liked the class, it was online, though, so you definitely had to work for your grade. We only had a midterm and a final but they were both in the same format and not too terribly difficult. He gives you literally everything you need to pass them both easily. Just make sure you watch the online lectures and read the text and you'll be fine.

Fantastic teacher with a tragic story. Took online classes, and while watching all the lectures is helpful, reading the material is vital. I, personally, only studied the material he posted for the two tests (100 points each) and passed well enough. Come prepared, because it honestly isn't too difficult to get an A.

Two exams, one midterm and final. 200 points total for class so no homework. SHOW UP TO CLASS. Go through the powerpoints and make flashcards of ALL of the words in RED and BOLD and you will pass. He gives the exam outline and half of the information upfront that you need to know for the exams. If you make a good impression he'll adjust your grade.

Katabasis. Learn it, love it, and expect it to pop into your head at random moments throughout your day. Didn't read anything for class. He literally tells you everything you need to know. Watched lots of movies and youtube videos. He is a fascinating person and a professor I would love to talk to just for the heck of it.

Professor Hughes will not just teach you about books; he honestly teaches you about life. He will help you get the answers you are looking for, and you'll probably start using words like katabasis in your daily vocabulary. He really is an amazing teacher, and it wasn't too hard. If you show up, and talk to him, he'll like you and he will pass you.

I took his block Heroic Quest class LLT 180 and we basically showed up once a week and had casual conversation where he would go over literally everything you need to know for the tests. Incredibly funny and helpful, I wish he offered more classes! Must go to class to pass but he makes it worth going!

Hughes was absolutely great. It didn't even feel like a class, it was more like a cool hang out while learning about new things. He often shows random and crazy Youtube videos that even more randomly tie into the lecture. He's a really sweet guy and cares a lot about his students. If you get the chance, TAKE HIS CLASS!
