I cannot say enough good things about Joyce. She's an amazing prof, and a very accomplished lady! You will definitely enjoy her lectures and learn a lot from her. She is also very kind and understanding. If you get the chance to take a class with her I highly recommend you do so!

Joyce is understanding if you need extra time. Each week there are readings and quizzes, but you only have to do 5 and you have until the start of exams to finish. Take this class if you want an easy A, not if you want to learn. Online classes are great, but if you actually care about reporting on Indigenous issues this might not be the best class

She's a very caring and knowledgable prof. The lectures are interesting and she makes them even better with class participation. The course was easy - graded by a few, simple things. Would take her again.

I walked into professor Smith's class with very little interest in news studies. And after her lectures, i'm fascinated with the subject - she is so passionate about what she teaches, and always the subject to both historical and current issues, making for an excellent class environment. I cannot recommend her enough.

Joyce's masters research class was very helpful. The material is dry only if you don't care about what you're learning. Take an interest in her class and ask questions and she will like you. She's friendly, helpful and always mild-mannered. She still helps me even though I'm no longer in her class.

Comment:
This professor teaches courses that are entirely useless and inane. Her creativity workshop is an insult to the masters students who are forced to take it. She is inconsistent and fails to respond to emails and other concerns. The only thing she seems to be skilled at is finding new ways to waste students' time.

Joyce cares about the material and teaches well but is not a people person nor a practitioner; she's a true blue academic. Easier on females.

Joyce really cares about what she is teaching and that is evident and appreciated. This stuff is really useful and helps make the tuition worth every penny. Practical teaching is not always the most exciting but great to have her leading the way.

A good prof. She genuinely seems to care about the students and the subject matter. She's not just putting in time on your $$. Yeah some of the material is dry but she does seem open to ideas and suggestions, so don't just sit there like a lump.

The material was very interesting; I learned a lot! Smith's teaching style is fine, and I like the way she conducts classes. But for the assignment at the end of the class, we didn't understand what she wanted us to do specifically, or how to go about researching and producing the assignment more in depth after having what we learned in class.

Joyce is very kind hearted and helpful. Organized, knows her stuff and I am really glad she is here. Online is a tough thing to teach and yes the material can be boring. I think it is a good thing to have people like her here. Yay Joyce!
