She does not write notes on the board or use powerpoints, let alone use D2L or post notes, and expects a heavy amount of reading and work from her students. With that being said, she is one of the best profs I've had in my 4 years at mun. Her lectures were extremely interesting, the books she has chosen are great, and she is a very fair marker.

I took the families course with her this semester. We had 7 novels to read, and were graded on 2 midterms, a final paper, and a final exam. Her exams have over 80 questions, and the paper had to be 20 pages long... she really makes you work for it. However she is an incredibly easy grader.

A lot of reading and lectures are extremely boring. Prof is not up to date with any technology therefore does not post on D2L at all & it is easier to go ask her questions than to email. Very hard to sit for an hour & fifteen-twenty minutes and listen but she tests what she says. Would not recommend if you don't like reading or don't attend class

Find this prof very interesting and fair. If you attend her class and take notes, you will pass with flying colors. Highly recommend if you are looking for a prof who will interest you like no other.

While she is sweet and has good intentions, shes is not in touch with her students or current times. She doesn't use D2L, power points or even write anything on the board. She literally just talks for an hour and a half straight, and you have to pay attention because she tests on the things she's said. Also, theres a lot of novels to read.

Really enjoyed the material in this course, definitely has sparked an interest in sociology. If you don't go to class you'd miss key material. Books can be long, but interesting- is alot of reading. Lectures can be really long and repetitive.

Dr. Adler is a very nice lady and I find her to be a very approachable professor. Her lectures can be very long and boring because she repeats herself many times, which can be beneficial for writing your own notes as she does not provide the class with notes. For this course there were 2 midterms and a final based on readings plus, a paper.

Not the kind of class or prof you want for two and a half hour, class only once a week but lectures are dry and you just want to leave. Assigns a stupid amount of reading which is not great when you have reading difficulties, classes are based off of the readings and everything is done by tongue, so nothing's posted online.

If you read the books on schedule, which were interesting and easy to follow, and go to her lectures having already read the proper books - its very easy and interesting! Also had the easiest paper I ever wrote (biographical, free to choose any topic on your family experience) and the highest mark I ever received on a paper.

What she lectures is exactly what she tests you on. Very clear objectives and helpful when you ask her questions. I'm not an arts student but I found this course so well organized that I did well in it. Do the readings but also GO TO CLASS!

Loved the course. No class notes, so take lots of notes from her lectures. No text books, but you must read the 5 novels to pass the course. The exams are full of questions on the books. Attendance not required but you NEED to go to pass the midterms.

I really enjoyed this class. She doesn't take attendance but you need to go to this class in order to pass because of her exams. She doesn't have class notes so take lots of notes during class. Lots of reading to this class, but most of the books are interesting. Her exams are long but they are easy if you've read the material and attended class.

She gives interesting lectures and she really knows her stuff. While she doesn't take attendance, coming to class is how you'll pass the (very long) midterm and final - many of the questions are straight from what she's said in class, so takes lots of notes. For the Families course, we had to read 6 whole novels, so be prepared for that.

This was the families course. There are only three pieces of evaluation so you have to try your best on each. That being said it is very easy to do well in this course. You need to read the books (there is six) and take lots of notes. The exams are cray long, 100 short answer questions each, but they are easy. You'll also have a 15 page paper on yo

decent prof. you must go to class if not you will not get the notes. ALOT of readings..6 novels in total for the course but if you read them you will do fine on the exams. you need to write a 15 page paper on yourself which is worth 1/3 of your grade.

Great Prof! As long as you attend class and take notes there are no surprises - she is basically giving you the exam! Lots of reading but they're interesting. She is an easy marker and quite fair. Easy to get an A.

Awesome professor! She did not use overheads and note taking was up to the student. By the end of class my hand would be cramped from writing BUT she covered all material needed for the exams in her lectures and through the readings. Easy marker and approachable. I found her very knowledgable and helpful.

I never got the crazy/mean vibe from Judith Adler. She is opinionated but I found her very approachable. You write your paper on YOURSELF. A self reflection on your life. Why are people complaining about this? It was easy and there was no research. Also a relatively easy grader. She also gave UNLIMTED time for our exams. I liked her alot!
