Comment:

Scalzo is great at conveying the content in class, but is harsh in her interactions with students. She can be rude, namely I've seen this when she calls on people in class discussion and thinks they don't understand and in class-wide emails about "excuses" for missed work. Overall, she's just a good lecturer with little compassion for her students.

Asking her a question is like the biggest burden in the world for her, she'll insult you and is generally rude to students and claims it to be her "good sense of humour" if you can pick any other course DO IT

Go to class!! No textbook as she provides you with everything you need, slides + notes to reinforce lectures. Lectures are awesome and great personality. Breaks down the course so you have a chance to succeed, brilliant teacher with a great sense of humour.

My absolute favourite!! I had her for IRH and she's so so funny! I could see why some people would dislike her, but if you don't talk during her lectures, and do show some interest you'll find that she is the best professor to have.

Scalzo is a great lecturer and she clearly knows what she is talking about. However, if you don't pay attention or do your readings you're going to fail. This class she gave us 5 tests based on 2 o 3 lectures. Midterm essay was confusing but, easily marked if you show her you really tried.

She is honestly the rudest woman ive ever met in my life. If you ask her a question she literally gets mad at you, and will give you some sarcastic vile response. She also looks like a bridge troll, along acting like one. Do not take this class, she really will make you hate the awesomeness of art history.

She is an entertaining art history professor, which is definitely what you need in this subject. She cares about her students. She is willing to do Retests for quizzes you have missed. She gives away answers on some of her multiple choice tests. She's always in good spirit! She gives you notes from her lectures. I genuinely love this professor!

The course is pretty much just 5 biweekly quizzes and then a final paper. Pretty easy & chill but LOTS of memorizing dates & names for the quizzes, so think twice if you're not good at memorization. The prof is kind of wacky, makes the class entertaining.

Her instructions in outlines for assignments are unclear. People often don't do the assignments correctly because of this lack of clarity and their grade suffers. She can be rude to students. Her lectures are long and boring. She is the worst professor I've ever had in my university career. If you can avoid her class, definitely do that!

Holy enthusiasm! EXTREMELY ENERGETIC. It can be a little intimidating but I had her for art history and somehow she made it interesting. She is VERY strict and has high expectations but all in all a good prof if you try not to take things too personally and don't get scared off by her. shes rough around the edges but passionate about the topic

I had her for two classes and it was the worst experience. Her disinterest for the subjects she teaches can only be matched by her disdain for her students. Unbelievably rude to anyone who dare ask a question or challenge her ideas. However I barely attended and received a good grade.

I really like her class! I think that she's a great prof that forces you to pay attention in order to UNDERSTAND what's history about. It's not enough to just memorize the content but rather to understand it. I went to her office seaking for help and she did helped me. She's a little eccentric, so what? I do agree with the essay instruction though.

Although she kept me awake during her lectures, she is not a good prof overall. It is very hard to tell what is important and what is not. You will be looking at a ton of art pieces (which is expected obviously), but I barley learned one thing on any piece. She is an extremely tough marker and there is no exceptions for late work, even with a note.

Does not care about the success of her students. Condescending, snobby and rude when approached outside of class (she will go out of her way to belittle you). Tough to get a good mark on her tests as she includes material that was not covered in lecture (you have to do your own research to learn). Avoid at all costs.

If you paid attention and come to her lectures every class, I guarantee you, you will not fail. Lectures might be long but she is passionate in what she's teaching. She only focuses on main artworks and does eliminates unimportant stuff. Her attitude might seem intimidating, but that's just simply her personality.

Yells a lot and is very disrespectful and patronizing to the whole class. Over-stresses the importance of meeting certain requirements for assignments, but when showing examples of the class' best work, those chosen often don't meet the basic requirements which makes her grading confusing. Easy class, worst prof.
