Comment:

Karyn is nice and passionate about soci however exams were a bit tough. You really need to study her lecture notes and reading packages to do well in this class. You can't cram. Assignments were straightforward as well. Lectures were interesting from her funny stories!

Nice prof, but derails way too much. Exams are not easy in this class whatsoever and is mainly based off her lectures, reading packs & documentaries. Super precise about noise & tardiness.

She is one of the best teachers I have ever seen in my life. She is an attentive listener and has got superb teaching skills. I would love to take another course with her. She is so passionate about sociology.

Comment:

Loved her as a prof and would take her again within a heartbeat! You can tell she has a genuine passion for teaching sociology. Don't take this course for a booster, you have to work hard to earn that A. She's there to support you, but if you study and cram the night before, you will not do well. Genuine, funny, and you won't regret taking her! :)

Dr. Eisler is a true gem, easily the most inspirational prof at Langara! The best part is her vivacious personality you get to experience in each one of her lectures, you can tell that she truly loves what she does. Not to mention the stories/videos that are included to help students understand the content in a relatable way. Would take again!!

Amazing teacher! She's very passionate and I LOVED her lectures. She's funny and has the best stories. There's A LOT of reading material and she takes attendance. Also you have one group project that you have to present in front of the class. It's not as bad as it seems though. Loved her as a teacher and I'd love to take her again!

Karyn is an amazing and passionate teacher, her lectures are entertaining and very informative. If you don't like reading then this probably isn't the class for you. Midterms and the final are based on reading packages, which she hands out,text book chapters and on lecture material, which can include movies. So try not to miss much of class.

Her readings are a tad heavy, but hey, it's college, what'd you expect? She's the best lecturer I've ever had in college. Her voice is literally the female equivalent to Morgan Freeman's. Her teaching is so helpful, and she's always available (even outside office hours!). Hiring this woman is the best decision that Langara ever made. Enough said.

All I can say is AMAZING. I absolutely love her. She does cover alot of material and goes pretty fast but they are extremely clear and easy to understand. I ended up taking 3 courses with her and her animal sociology course was just amazing (I got a dog after that course). Lots of documentaries and notes to help you understand materials clearly.

Took Soci 1121 with this professor. Amazing class that everyone should take even outside of an Arts program. Tho you can take 1120 or 1121 first, I suggest taking 1120 with Elic Chan if you can first and following with this. Good synergy in that order.

Karyn is honestly such a cool prof! Her thorough clarification of explaining sociological theories, her enthusiasm and passion for sociology will make you enjoy her early morning 830 class. If you don't engage in the material, you will not pass her class, as there are reading lists she will assign that is vital to your exams! Thank you, Dr. Eisler!

Karyn is such an amazing teacher. She is filled with energy and enthusiasm first thing in the morning. Every class was fun I don't recall being bored. Her notes are really good even though it might be a little different from the textbook. She marks pretty fairly. Want an A in this class? read all the materials and pay attention in class!

Loved this class and loved her teaching style. There is a lot of material to cover and you won't be able to get a good mark just by cramming the night before. Took her suggestion for studying with cue-cards for the 2nd mid-term and was glad I did. She sets you up for success but if you don't study or engage with the material you won't do well.

Lectures are very interesting and she is a fair marker. I took her Animals and Society course which consisted of two midterms, a final, and a small group project/presentation. There was no textbook for the course so attending class was essential. I highly recommend taking a class with this professor and would definitely take her class again.

Dr. Eisler is really amazing. She is thorough and means it when she encourages you to see her during office hours! If you are struggling, go see her, she will work with you! Also, go to the lectures. The material she discussed there is vital to your exams and final marks. All around great teacher and great class.

By far one of my favourite teachers, EVER. Not sure how to describe how amazing she is but just TAKE HER COURSE. She really understands what it's like to be a student and she is very clear on what is going to be on the exams. Super nice & helpful. It is crucial to take notes during lectures and do your readings. Do your part and you'll do great.

She is the best teacher Ive ever met. Im so glad we had this time together. But get ready to read. There are reading lists. You should read all the material before every exam. There is also a concept paper. And she will take attendance.

Karyn is honestly the greatest teacher when it comes to Sociology. I took her animals and society class and her lectures could not be more clear and easy to follow. Her tests may ben tricky but if you do the reading and take good lecture notes you will have no problems. Amazing teacher and would definitely recommend her and would take her again.
