Great professor; I'm sad to hear that he's retiring. I had absolutely no interest in this subject, but you could tell that Professor Iles really knew what he was talking about and loved teaching.

Comment:

While he IS fairly mono-toned, he still tells personal stories to bring real-world examples to the course. He is passionate about what he teaches. I would suggest bringing a laptop to take notes if possible,as handwriting them takes too long & everything he says is necessary.No quizzes or attendance,but I'd go.Always a helpful bonus on tests. Take!

Overall the class was good. I took the summer session. He gave good notes and good exam review sheets... He gives at least 1 extra credit question on the exams (worth 5 pts.)! This helped me out a lot! The only negative thing I'd have to say is that he's pretty mono-toned..I would suggest his class though!

Comment:

Nice teacher, but very very boring. Don't use book very often in class, but needed to study for test. Gives notes in class, but didn't tend to cover all the material on test. Test were very hard. I honestly don't know how I passed the class. It's a confusing subject and if you don't find this subject interesting, I wouldn't recommend.

Ken brings real-world experience into the classroom to make the material easier to digest. Good basis for later GEOG classes. Take good notes, attend class, and you will do fine.

not very good. doesnt give enough time to write down notes in class. his reviews are decent, but alot of stuff on review is not on test. (also, some stuff on test is not on the review). This makes it hard to pass. The book isnt used in class, but it helps alot when studying. I would not reccomend this teacher.

If you care about school but science isn't your thing, take Iles. He gives great review sheets for the test and if you know all the definitions on the review sheet, you're good. He is very kind and helpful outside of class if you have any problems. He genuinely cares about his students and wants them to succeed.

Iles is a good dude. He seems genuinely interested in the subject matter he's teaching and has a positive impact on the overall enjoyableness of the class. I won't lie, this class is hella boring and the notes are rather lengthy and detailed, but all the tests are straight from the notes and he passes out solid review sheets before every test.

I had a bad experience with this teacher. He is a teacher that is set in his ways and not very patient with his students. His notes are very lengthy, while his tests are very difficult. I had to study extra hard to do well. Many people in my class were struggling.

I loved this class- he uses real life examples in his notes. It's clear that he's seen and done everything he's explaining which makes it so much more interesting. He really loves what he does. Go to class, study the info. on the reviews, and memorize the bonus and you'll easily get an A! Mr. Iles is an awesome person- take his class!

I hated geology but iles was a cool teacher! he is real laid back and there are only 4 test as your whole grade! He tells you the bonus question and answer before the test which is nice! if your interested in the subject i would recommend him! if your just looking for a science class then this one is going to be boring!

Mr. Iles is a great teacher. He knows that most of the students in his class are not interested in the subject and teaches accordingly. He always uses current events to teach the topic of the week. His tests come straight out of his notes and are easy, as long as you pay attention in class. He also gives in-class reviews.
