Muir is a funny guy, but he is incredibly far left which can get pretty annoying at times. It feels like the class is his own personal political indoctrination chamber sometimes. With that being said, he knows his stuff, and the class is quite easy. Take him if you want an easy grade.

Muir is a funny dude and a good professor. He is also EXTREMELY liberal. Like as far left as you can get, which can be annoying but oh well. No hw. Only 3 tests... Oh and he loves to talk about intercourse. My friend and I actually kept a tally of how many times he would incorporate intercourse into his lectures. Be ready for an interesting class.

Muir, Ken, Doc, a few of the names he said we could call him was FANTASTIC!!! He is so funny and witty and he knows his stuff. I loved going to his class because his lectures were interesting and entertaining. You should go to class so that you know the stuff. There aren't any quizzes only I think four tests all of which are not too bad. I <3 Muir

Loved this class and loved Muir. He is hilarious and includes outside stories to make lecture more interesting and enjoyable. He is very helpful and wants you to learn. Engages with the students and includes group work. Would definitely take again and highly recommend! If you're a conservative be ready to get offended, he doesn't hold back!

His lectures are mentioned on tests which makes you want to attend class but when hes explaining a new concept he goes off on insanely long and convoluted examples or explanations of things that by the end of it you have no idea what he was even trying to explain in the first place. Its best to try to get any actual info from the book

Dr. Muir is an awesome professor. He genuinely takes pride in his studies of Sociology and that shows in his lectures. He only gives three exams the entire semester, including the final, and all the information on the exams comes straight from the lectures. If you miss class, get notes from somebody who was there. Overall, he is a great professor.

I always look forward to his class. His lectures are funny and he gives clear information. Attendance is not mandatory but I wouldn't recommend missing- things said in his lecture are test questions. He's extremely liberal and makes it very obvious. He may come off offensive to some because he does not hold back. There's only 4 grades.

Muir is absolutely hilarious and so knowledgeable about the subject he teaches. He is always telling anecdotal stories that match up with the class. Grades are based on a few tests and a couple in class worksheets. As long as you come to class and listen you'll do fine.

Since there is only one section of Theory 1 offered, and it is required to take for the major I decided to take this with Muir. He's cancelled a lot of classes due to his health this semester, which is understandable. However he doesn't post powerpoints, doesn't make study guides for the tests. Your grade is 50% midterm and 50% final.

Muir is a fun professor, but you really don't learn much in class. His lectures aren't very effective because he's more focused on making it entertaining. A lot of what's on the test is not taught in class because he gets behind, however he does make a comprehensive study guide. Cool guy and very smart, just not the best professor.

Dr. Muir is awesome. If you don't wanna hear his opinion on just about every topic, don't take him. That being said, Muir knows what he is talking about and his lectures are interesting and light-hearted. He basically gives you an A if you study the lecture notes for the tests. Easy class, great professor. 10/10!

I absolutely love Muir's teaching style. He's hilarious and includes humor in every lecture. Attendance in not mandatory, but if you skip class you're a little screwed. There are only three tests, so studying definitely needs to be a thing. Overall, he's really fun. I definitely would take a class with him again.

JUST GO TO CLASS! He doesn't actually take attendance but he uses clicker questions in place of that, but not every day. If you don't go to class though, you will miss a lot. We only took 3 tests but those are the only grades he gives. The tests are not too bad, but they're based on lecture notes so if you don't have those you won't succeed.

Dr. Muir gave me an awful first impression, but he shortly turned my opinion around. I have went to every class this semester and he is really good about giving examples of things he lectures on. Don't take his class if you can not take a joke because his vulgar humor is hilarious!

Hey freshman and sophomores, ready for a professor you'll regret you had for the rest of your college career? Look no further than this class with this guy. He does what ever he wants because he has been at App forever but that won't benefit you if you actually want to learn or get a good grade. Only 3 grades and lectures that are inappropriate.
