Professor Birch is very kind and genuine. He really cares about the curriculum. There are 3 tests and 2 papers. The tests are not too hard and he also puts extra credit on these tests over the semester. The papers are difficult, but turn in your rough draft, that way you can get a better grade! Lectures can either be long and boring or short & fun.

He's really nice and understanding, and it helps to build a relationship with him as a class at the beginning of the semester because he will listen if you ask for more time, reviews, or extensions. His lectures are very interesting and it's easy to take notes from not just his presentations, but on the fun facts and little details he gives you.

Professor Birch is a great professor for history majors, and anyone who enjoyed high school history or takes good notes. As a history major, I've had him for three classes (101, Hellenistic Med, & Greek Mythology), all of which were enjoyable. However, if you go into any of his classes expecting not to work or do the minimum, you'll regret it.

Very harsh grader. He does not give you much information to write an essay. Definitely doesnt care if you pass the class. Some extra credit is given, maybe 5 points extra.

Had him in my LLC class. Very kind, go to his office hours and he is a different person. Easy class, just show up, do the essays (only 2), do flashcards for the terms list. He says some very weird things but they are hilarious. Also, go to class before breaks, easy extra credit opportunities. Pretty sure I am going to get an A.

Funny professor. Good guy over all but the grading is rough. Be ready for intensive memorization and some outside work. Start your essays early!

There's 3 tests and 2 papers. The tests aren't too bad if you study, but there are a few things that he'll put on them that weren't gone over. The papers are difficult, and he's very strict with instructions. Definitely turn in a rough draft for them.

He is a terrible professor who thinks he is better than everyone in the class just because he knows history. HIs tests are super long and have information that he doesn't even go over. His lectures are super boring and he just reads off the slides. His essays are pointless and he grades them extremely hard. Office hours do not help at all.

This is my second time taking Professor Birch. This is the guy you want if you are taking 102, or 101. The two classes are identical. 3 Tests, 2 Papers, and some Extra Credit. The paper's will require time, but are not hard to complete. If you study a few days before the test on lecture material you will be fine. Highly Recommend Birch!

I had Professor Birch for History 101 and his class was one of my favorite classes. If you go to every class you will do great on his tests! He made 8ams not as horrible because he was energetic and happy! You have to make sure you study outside of class and GET STARTED ON HIS PAPERS EARLY!!! His papers are not that hard just start them early!!!

Mr. Birch is your guy if you are taking history at Salisbury University!! You write 2 papers (which are long), but you can go see him as many times as you want and he will revise it. The more you go see him, the better chance you have at getting a 99 on it. The Tests are write off lecture material and extra credit was given periodically. Great Guy!

Professor Birch is of the highest ilk. He's quite funny - and lame at the same time, which he fully embraces - and extremely bright. Once you understand what he expects from you, his papers are simple. Visit him in his office, as he will likely offer you tea or coffee. His ID Exams can be challenging at first. TAKE HIM AND VISIT HIS OFFICE.

Birch is a very kind professor, and is passionate about the subject, but if you are taking him for a Gen Ed, DO NOT take him. His papers have very specific rules to follow, which makes the essays so much more complicated. Also, his tests are tough. He does give out a lot of extra credit though, which helps with your grade tremendously.

Birch is an amazing professor for HIST101. His documents for papers are long, so read them ahead of time. He offers you to submit rough drafts, so take advantage of it! There are plenty of extra credit opportunities. Do not waste your money on the book. I read over my notes a few times and always got A's on exams. Show up and you will pass.

Mr. Birch is an awesome teacher. His lectures are exactly what's on the tests; if you pay attention in class & take good notes, you'll get an easy A. He lectures the entire class, but gives time for students to ask questions; the lectures aren't boring at all. He's understanding and works with you to be successful.

Favorite professor I've had at SU. He definitely knows his stuff and makes the lectures interesting. Cracks corny dad jokes, but I think it adds to his teaching style. Graded on 2 papers and 3 exams including the final. You will pass if you study. Very helpful w/ the papers, allows you to turn in a draft and he will fix it for you! TAKE HIM

Tests weren't bad, but papers were extremely difficult unless you start them extra early and turn the in to be looked over. I was never interested in history but able to sit through his class. soooo many terms to learn that its like a new language

Professor Birch is a great guy, he comes off a little tough but he really is helpful. His lectures are fairly interesting given the topic of the material. There are 3 tests and 2 papers. The papers are not easy, you need to start them early. If you go see him with your drafts you are guaranteed a decent grade. DO study for tests.
