This class was amazing and that's all because of Professor Grimm! He was so sweet and funny and you could tell he really cares about what he is teaching. I actually looked forward going to his class! We read some great short stories, poems, and dramas. He made things so interesting. Im so sad to be done with this class. He's the best!!!

I have him WED 6 to 9:20pm so i am already exhausted when i get here and he makes me want to fall asleep. He holds class for every single minute even though its obvious people stop paying attention about a half hour before class ends. the material is boring. he is having us do a final paper (6 to 8 pages) AND a final exam.

I really enjoyed Professor Grimm's class! He was interesting and classes mostly consist of discussions about the reading. Speaking of reading, there is a lot of it but it isn't too bad. We had to read 5 plays, basically reading an act each day of class, so if you don't like Shakespeare this probably isn't what you should take.

As a brand new graduate student, it was a relief to have Professor Grimm for intro to grad studies. He is kind and compassionate, and he is approachable if you're confused. His assignments are always clear, which is something many professors lack. Also his feedback is always helpful and he gives great constructive criticism. Such a great professor!

WHAT A WASTE OF MY TIME AND MONEY. I love English and typically get solid grades (A's and high B's) and I'm likely to earn the same in this class. But this prof is the most boring lecturer, inconsistent grader, and completely arrogant person I've ever had the misfortune to know, let alone teach me a class. Please don't teach!

There's a lot of reading, and a lot of (tangential) lectures, but Grimm is interesting and the content is great. He clearly cares a lot about the subject, and his enthusiasm helps. His grading is more difficult than I expected, especially on the tests, and there's weekly quizzes. I'd take him again.

I took Professor Grimm last semester and I liked him so much that I took him again. I think that speaks volumes about what kind of teacher he is. Read the assigned books carefully, write solid papers, participate in class, memorize the definitions, and take note of his analysis of the books and you will do well.

If you want to do well in his class you have to read the texts he assigns, participate in class, and write solid papers. If you have questions about a paper, he will always help you.

Amazing prof. You can tell he loves what he teaches and he is so interesting and funny! Would love to take another one of his classes. There is a LOT of reading to do, so definitely keep up as pages are assigned. Quizzes are open note and easy. Tests are good too, he does grade a little tougher on essay parts, but still very fair.

He's great. We take a few quizzes, three exams, and the final. The class is easy until you fall behind on the readings. MAKE SURE TO READ or you'll be lost in his class! The exams are easy as long as you attend class regularly. He teaches until the very last minute so no luck being let out early. He makes class fun, and his stories are hilarious!

Professor Grimm is an incredible professor! He's extremely engaging and keeps his lectures and class discussions clear and organized. I normally despise English classes and have previously done very poorly in them however this class has been my favorite class at Oakland so far. Highly recommend this class to anyone regardless of major

We read Beowulf, a few tales from The Canterbury Tales, a few sonnets from Shakespeare's Sonnets, Pride & Prejudice, Wuthering Heights, & Mrs. Dalloway. The readings can be annoying/boring at times, but he's great! He's hilarious and t makes lectures fun. The tests are easy too. (3 exams & a final) I highly recommend his class. (British Literature)

Great professor. He has a lot of interesting knowledge. He goes on tangents a lot, but they're never dull ones. As long as you attend class, it's easy to get at least a B. His tests are really easy as long as you attend class. I would completely recommend any class he teaches.

I've had him for two semesters, and he's always so enthusiastic when teaching. He does go on tangents every now and then, but at least he's interesting to listen to. Take him if you can - he's funny, not too hard of a grader, and makes medieval lit fun.

He is a great professor. He's extremely enthusiastic and animated, and tries hard to explain the material so that his students can fully comprehend it. He's really nice and is readily available if you need help. He also has a great sense of humor, which makes the class even more enjoyable. Overall I liked the class and thought he taught it well.

Keeps class interesting and very entertaining. Funny and nerdy in a cool way. Analytical skills needed for tests - not very easy but example posted on Moodle helped. If you read the books (or at least Sparknotes) and pay attention in class you will succeed.
