Dr. Houser is a really awesome professor who is competent in his field. He used to be a psychiatrist at Hopkins so he always has hilarious stories about his patients that relate back to class material. Do does not use blackboard or powerpoint and the tests are based completely on class notes so go to class! Interesting material.

Keeps lectures interesting by giving his own hilarious stories and really good examples to explain the material. Super nice and likes to hear from the class but won't pick people out unless they raise their hand. Exams can be a lot of material, so make sure you keep up with the material, but not crazy hard. One paper and chances for extra credit.

There is no textbook. He does not write things down or use PPTs which is ehh.. But he does know his stuff and is willing to repeat it if you ask. There are 3 or 4 exams (depends on how you get through material) and 1 very long interview paper. The tests are straight from lecture so you have to attend class. In class roleplays occur once a week.

You will definitely need to attend class if you want to pass. Do not use power-point slides. teaches off of his own notes and rarely repeats what he says so it is best to take notes on a laptop to keep up. The exams are not something you can study for overnight you must know your information thoroughly to pass.

He knows his stuff and I enjoy the stories/real life examples he presents in class. He doesn't use blackboard and lectures without any powerpoint anything, so be prepared to write every single thing he says. The grades are based on exams and a paper.

I loved Houser. He dictates notes and you just have to copy them down, read them over and understand them. He also gives examples of the theories from his experience as a counselor. He gives an extra credit paper, a book report, 3 tests and a final. I would take him again.

His lectures are interesting. No textbook. My only complaint is that his tests are memorization. He gives you lists during the lectures, and you have to remember basically word for word what's on the list. You can have 3 unexcused absences. And one paper that is pretty easy if you just follow the instructions. Offers extra credit.

No powerpoints used. All notes given in a verbal fashion. There is a lot of material but it is explained in a way that makes it easy to remember. He provides examples that are relatable to real-life situations. One of the BEST professors I've ever taken. Would HIGHLY recommend any of his classes.

Dr. Houser is amazing! Take him! No blackboard use or textbook needed. You role play towards the middle of the semester until the end and it is a great experience! He is funny and tells stories about the experiences he's had that relates to the course work that helped me a lot. TAKE HIM!!

He doesn't use PowerPoints, but he's willing to repeat what he's said so that you have time to write it down. Attendance was mandatory because a large portion of the class is based on role playing therapy sessions. Tells funny, real-life stories from his experience. My favorite psych class by far. It's not an easy A, but you won't regret taking it.

Loved Houser. Does not use powerpoint, you take notes directly from his lecture but he gives plenty of time to ensure you copy everything he says. Exams are tough, short answers worth 50 points+ BUT as long as you know your notes you are fine! He gives plenty of personal experience and was one of the best profs I've had. Awesome, funny guy!

The guy as a person is funny & down-to earth. Pros: doesnt take attendance, u dont have to write any papers at all, third exam is optional. Cons: no blackboard, handoutspower points. the whole class consists of u taking notes verbatim everything he says. Tests are out of this world hard! U can knw the material, study for hrs & still only get an 80

He is a nice person, I will give him that, but other than that he is the worst professor ever. First off, if you are a writer, well, don't expect to get a clear idea of how many pages he wants for the paper, his response will be as long as it takes you to do a beneficial job. Finally, since he doesn't use powerpoint, you better know your notes.

He is a very good teacher with a lot of experience to which he brings to classes. He lectures in a way that is extremely easy to take notes and gives plenty of examples. The tests are hard but that's what you have to expect at a 300 level class. He's very good and I recommend him

Prof Houser does not care about his students. I don't think he enjoys being a professor and it comes through in his lecture. I expected him to be helpful but he made it seem like a chore to answer questions. He is easy to understand, as he gives you very clear notes, but the tests are extremely difficult. I do not recommend him.

Class is really easy. You do a LOT of roleplaying, option for extra credit. You have to have the workbook, it's really easy though. Tests are completely essay and memorization. Know your notes, go to class. Easy A
