omg she is such a sweet lady and I would definitely take her class over again. She gets to the point and typically won't move on until the class understands. ALWAYS open to questions and she isn't much of a harsh grader. 4 exams, one paper. If you study, there's no way you won't ace this class. She also brings in candy a lot!

Dr. Shifren was simply amazing! Shes a very reasonable and understanding professor. She encourages her students to meet in office hours or at least email. Her lectures were interesting and she relates course material to real life situations.

Dr. S is so sweet. Her lectures aren't the most engaging, but she does keep everything relevant which is nice if you're a gerontology major or in the field. She brings treats a lot and really cares about her students. 1 easy paper and 4 tests with very specific study guides. I barely paid attention in class and still got A's on every test.

She isn't a bad professor by any means, but her lectures are easily slept through and you are required to go to class or lose points off your grade. 4 tests and 1 paper, all pretty easy. The class is just uninteresting and very basic. She's a very nice lady, just not the best teacher.

Comment:

Shifren is a very nice professor, she is willing to help and has available office hours. Attendance is "not required", but she takes attendance sometimes and gives extra credit. For the exams, you have to study. Don't just show up to class, read the book also, her exams are not easy, but they are reasonable. Overall, would take her again.

Lectures are BORING,and very vague never came to class and i managed a B-. 3 exams, a final and an interview paper. she also gives X-tra credit randomly in class. Study the book and you'll pass exams, they are very material specific 30-40 Mc, 10 Short answer. her study guide is very helpful

Amazing professor! Gives real life experiences with lectures which makes students stay engaged and participate more. Powerpoints are uploaded to blackboard. Give 8pts extra credit. You need to read as well as pull info from powerpoint to pass her tests. Also need to go to class, short answer questions come from videos on slides.

Great class, she puts all the powerpoints online which you can use when she gives you the study guide for each test. There are 4 tests, the final isn't cumulative, and one paper. She's really sweet, just go to class and you will pass.

The type of class that you sign in for credit and leave. Shiffren herself talks more about her kids and her mom than the material and tries to be funny/young. Easy A because the slides were online but when you question her marking a correct answer wrong (frequent occurrence) she gets rude. Good class, annoying professor.

Shiffren is great. This class was so easy. She puts all the PowerPoints on Blackboard and laptops are allowed so I rarely took notes but I have an A in the class. The class consist of 4 exams including the final (non-cumulative) and one paper. She does take attendance though. Show up , review the PowerPoints, do the study guides for exams and pass.

If you have taken PSYC 101 this class is pretty much a repeat. The lectures are kinda boring if you already know the information. She posts the power points on black board, if you use those and the exam review you'll pass the tests no problem.

Shes an amazing instructor She truly wants you to do your best and wants you to make good grades. attendance is taken. She Gives 8pts extra credit , reviews exams & gives pts if majority got the same question wrong. Her finals are not accumulative, i would suggest skimming the book, she puts short answer questions on the exam, bullet pts accepted.

Pretty clear cut class. Shifren was awesome, even though the material was a tad dull. 4 exams, 1 group project, and 1 interview paper due at the end of the semester. She also posts all powerpoints online from her lectures. Very understanding and actually cares about her students. May ramble on a bit, but would definitely take her again. Loved her!

I really REALLY liked Dr. Shifren. I thought she was so nice, helpful, and quirky. Her tests, however, were a lot harder than you would expect. She would add random facts from the book, that she knew nobody read. However, she gives up to 8 points extra credit, and will add points to the tests if enough people get a question wrong.

She has her students best interest in mind! Such a sweet lady and very funny! She makes the class very interesting and prepares you for exams, which are not too tough but you do need to study for them. One paper max 5 pages and 3 tests plus the final. Great Professor!!

Great professor, very helpful. Tests aren't the easiest, she adds random facts you should know that aren't on ppts. Gives opportunities for extra credit and attendance is checked so you only can miss 3 classes without an excuse
