I took Dykeman in 2011. Going to class was pointless, he rarely made any sense and isn't really in well enough health to be teaching. I went to talk to him about how I could do better on his tests and did everything he said. I still couldn't ever get higher than a B but my only comments were citation problems. Avoid him if possible.

A brilliant, brilliant philosophy teacher. By now, probably an institution at Fairfield. A kind and caring human being, to boot! Take him if you want to think well. I give him an A+!

He knows his stuff, but he is a little crazy. He swore constantly and did kick people out of class. An A is not impossible if you do what you are supposed to do for homework and have a little bit of creativity for the tests. Don't be scared of him, he's quite funny and if you put in the effort you will learn a lot from him.

The worst teacher I've ever had! He's funny b/c he has slipped so far into dementia that everyone laughs at him. I went to every class & paid attention, but can't tell you anything useful I learned. Tests are essays trying convince others that philosophy is interesting, which it isn't. He give grades randomly, and you won't do well. Do not take!

This guy is absolutely brilliant, and really knows his stuff. He's also absolutely crazy, which makes class very entertaining. Some people struggle to understand him, but as long as you really listen and read the material you can learn so much from him. You probably wont get an A, but you will without a doubt enjoy the class, he's a great guy.

King is the most crazy prof at Fairfield! He is out of his mind but really knows his stuff. He is also a great guy and will give you feedback at his office hours...if he remembers to go to them. I love when he tosses people of of class, which happened to me twice. I struggled to get B's, but took him for 3 classes because very interesting.

Prof.Dykeman is an old guy who is hilarious. Nobody really knows what he's talking about because he's on such a divine level of knowledge that if you were to understand him, your head would explode. When he forgets a specific author's name, he will invariably refer to them as "dinkboots over there." had him in a team taught, might be tough alone

This prof. let me audit him for 2 semesters. I had never been in college before. Since that time, Ive gone on to get an A.S. @ Community College and Im closing in on B.A. @ Fairfield U. Have 3.50 gpa. If not for this prof, I wouldnt have tried.
