This class was 3 hours long on account that each class (which met only once a week) we watch a movie. Some are good, most are boring. But, he will spend 30 minutes explaining the entire movie before you watch it; the class really doesn't need to be 3 hours. He is also not very helpful at clarifying material or questions, but he is a nice person.

If you are motivated you will learn a lot. He knows we, the students, are not all idiots and doesn't expect us to act like idiots. He has high expectations. The workload depends on whether you want to slip by or learn alot. It is up to you.

This class was "spiritual cinema," and yet after going to every class I still don't know what spiritual cinema is. I know nothing about film as art, and the prof does nothing to teach this. There was also no way to gauge your grades at all. Avoid this guy at all costs, he's really nice but he's a worthless teacher.

Shows no comprehension of presented material, no new insights, completely incapable of being concise. Instead of focusing on developing cyberart of today, we watched videos about what people in the 80's thought today would be like. I regret taking it but the grade's based almost entirely on easy retake-able webct quizzes. Overall, not worth it.

DO NOT take a class with this guy. The TA is okay, and was the only one that I learned ANYTHING from. Grading is really hard and pretty unfair. The course project made me learn a lot but i had to teach ALL of it to myself. And i still got a B- in the class.(i have a 3.6 gpa). Dienz seems to be a nice guy, but was an incompetant at running a class.

This man is incompetent. I have no idea why someone lacking any technical skill would ever teach a class called Digital Culture. 20 minutes of class is spent watching him try to work powerpoint or connect to the internet. The readings are never discussed in lecture. I feel cheated out of my tuition every time I go to class. The TA is good though.

He's just plain awful. He's unorganized, and his "weekly projects," while rather simple, are extremely tedious and unrelated to the class. While he may come off as goofy & humble, in actuality he's a vengeful & mean spirited guy. He has no problem making you redo projects for no clear reason, and will happily insult you & oppose you just for fun.

this guy goes on - and on - and on until even the best student falls into a coma. just loves to listen to himself and disagree with students. easy grader though. wrote papers on the fly and got a's.

I am really interested in the subject matter. So I am glad that I took the class. With that said, he is very poorly organized and fairly general. Additionally, the graded assignments have nothing to do with the actual class or the readings. As a result, students generally are not motivated.

I dropped his class, the amount of work you have to put in his class equals the amount of work of two other classes at least. he focuses on small, irrelevant details when it comes to assignments. he is never fully satisfied with anybody's work.

I'm embarrassed at the low marks that my fellow classmates gave professor Dienes. He expects college-level work out of college students. If you have some problems with his class and see him in his office, he WILL take whatever time necessary to help you.
