I had Prof. Groening about 20 years ago, and she was a great teacher. I am sure no one regrets more than she does that she can longer speak. I think some of the comments on this site about her are really cruel under the circumstances. The alternative would be to fire this wonderful wonderful person.

Given her voice status, she should have used powerpoint or gotten someone to teach who could talk. Her class was pointless, and I learnt very little from what could have been an otherwise engaging class.

it's really too bad that she can no longer speak, because she seems like she would be a very nice, approachable teacher if that weren't the case. unfortunately its hard to understand her computer, and i don't feel like i'm actually being taught much in the class. all i get are my peers opinions on the books and a handout every few weeks.

Unfortunately , she can no longer speak and uses a computer to speak for her. Course designed so students do all the speaking . An incredible amount of time wasted since she cannot respond to questions without returning to the podium and typing in an answer. . The freakin machine is completely unclear, so she has to hit replay several times.

What a nice lady! She is so helpful in and out of class. Once, I went to see her with a bad grade, and she totally fixed it! I was like, "oh my god, u rule!!" Also, she has very nice daughters.

I found her booklist to be a little over the top; there is only so much reading one can do for a course. She is, however, very encouraging and never puts anyone down. Movie Monday's are her specialty.

SO boring and unimaginative! Worse than the 'I can't wait to retire' high school teachers. Has been teaching for the exact same way for decades. Nice enough person, but totally unimaginative. Avoid!

She's very, very nice and while that is good, perhaps she has overdone it. She applauds and encourages everyone and every effort so much I feel that she should be more critical so that obtaining a high grade would prove more satisfactory.
