He is my top 3 professor in economic department. I used to think 3 hours class would be really boring, but, not at all, his class is really interest. Also, 3hours class had been passed really fast. However, asking questions that you donot understand marterial Between, He is a nicest and most intelligence professor at the Economic deparment.

Great! This is a class where I actually learned something that stuck with me and is interesting. It's also refreshing to see an econ prof who is critical of unrealistic econ models and is not credulous enough to take them up on faith, unlike other simpleminded self deluding economists. Boland - one of the top three profs I ever had!

Great prof! keeps things interesting, class is formatted so you do your readings, then ask questions about them. All you need to do is ask questions and you will do well! Class is mostly based on class participation. Very interesting course

Probably one of the best profs I've had at SFU. Talks about current events and relates it to the reading. He doesn't encourage you to ask about ur grades but he does encourage you to ask questions! I enjoyed it very much. He seems like a mean guy but it's all an act he's in fact a very nice guy!

This professor is probably the best professor I have had so far in school. His teaching method requires participation and is unique, but if you're able to participate and listen, you will enjoy him. supposedly econ110 is no longer being taught, but any class with him is a chance to learn something.

If you have some extra cash laying around and you dont want to learn anything, then take his class. Basically a waste of tuition fees. Class is a joke, marking system is a joke, prof is a joke. Its like a comedy act but the joke is on you at the end. I was one of the students that did well on the midterms, participated fully and ended up with a B.

Mr. boland is a very knowledgable prof, although he seems to be very ignorant to things that he beleives are wrong. not very open minded. he seems to think that his is the only class in the world, and that students have all the time in the world for his antics. take his class if you don't mind lisening to a sour old man 3 times a week...enjoy!

SFU needs more professors like Lawrence Boland! Challenges you to think, rather than memorize. As long as you are willing to participate, and actually do the readings, you are guaranteed a good grade....participation in class is IMPORTANT...make sure to ask a lot of questions!

Had him for Econ110 2 sem. ago. Interesting style. Class is small 20-30 ppl. *NOTE you MUST ask questions (participate) or you will fail! Most ppl drop this class becuz of this reason. And need to read short books. The first midterm was on the books we read, and most ppl didnot read them so 1/2 of the class failed(me too) but the final fair.

The Prof expects you to ask questions and actively participate in discussion in EVERY lecture. If your 1st language is not English, you are a DEAD DUCK. Midterm passing mark is 60%. Over 50% students failed.
