Discourages students and makes them feel worthless. His lectures are boring but that's only because he is boring. Can be deliberately rude. In general, Lawrence is a terrible instructor, I cannot disapprove of him enough!

Initially was scared of the class due to the negative ratings here. But my experience was quite good actually, Lawrence is a very fair marker and will help you out granted to play your role in the class as a student. Tests can be quite difficult, but if you study the provided materials, you'll be fine.

Lam has this temper which I find extremely unattractive and selfish. Besides, his pedagogy is quite bad. Definitely not the best professor (in my opinion).

I was unfortunate enough to have Lam for Social Theory, and have to say that I do not like him. He is not a good instructor, and an unfair marker. Does not seem to care one bit about his students. I do not recommend him nor taking any of his classes.

I'm a 2nd year soci major and I took 2030 with Prof Lam. I gotta say he's the best prof i've had at York! He's very helpful, and really cares about his students! His jokes are funny and will always stay with you! USE the study guide.. it is soo helpful! if u have to take 2030.. u gotta take it with him!

I hear really bad things about him before I started this class with him, but he was actually great! He has a thick accent, but you can understand him. His classes are kind of boring (but really, how interesting can social methods GET?!). He was funny and approachable and overall very fair.

I was weary about taking a class with Prof. Lam after having read the comments about him on this site, but my mind was completely changed. I think he's a great professor who knows what he's talking about and is very helpful when it comes to test review hand-outs. He's HILARIOUS and has an accent, but he's still easy to understand (just listen!).

WORST teacher ever. wont let u take make-ups for legitimate reasons, even if you have doctors notes. LAZY, tells you to appeal to the dean so he doesnt have to write make-ups. Lectures are pointless, they dont relate to the course at all. This man should not be teaching. Stay far away from this course!
