People should stop being ageist dopes. He does not need to retire. He may not be contemporary, but the quirkiness, wisdom and knowledge he has to offer more than make up for that - that is if people care to listen, which they are not usually smart enough to do. Exams are not a piece of cake, so take notes. If you can't hear him well just sit close.

He's really nice but he really needs to retire. I really just sit in class on my laptop for 1hour 15 mins. You don't need to read the books because he spends ALL of class going over chapter by chapter. I would say if you want an easy A, take him, but if you don't want to be bored out of your life then don't.

This guy's the man haha. You watch a lot of video clips and sometimes listen to music in class (heck, one of our grades was playing a song for the class and explaining it's poetic characteristics). Nice guy.. pretty easy.. only 2 papers in the class.

I wish Dr. Winser could be my grandfather b/c he is knowledgable and funny too. I loved his class. He tells stories of his travels and is very informative. He likes to show a lot of movie clips, which is another perk because it makes time move faster. he claims to be the oldest professor in the school. Great class. Take it.

Good professor, pretty easy if you pay attention. Most of the stuff we read I had read in high school already, so it was a breeze. We had 1 paper due the whole semester, and a few little assignments here and there. He does write really small, but he doesn't use the blackboard too much. Pay attention and you'll have no problem in his class.

This guy I think gets a bad rap. I don't like english at all and this class is great. We watch about 25-30 minutes of movies almostevery class, we read about 40 pages for class, and his lectures are overviews of what we read. Very nice guy as well.

He is old as hell, but fair and easy.. If you know how to write proper english you will pass... Even though english is my weakness i still got an b+ and I didn't even try... he writes small as hell on the board....Most of the time in class we watched media clips.. He is boring I suggest you bring your laptop.. Take him!

writes veryyyyyyyyyyy small on the board..can barely read his writing..and is sometiems hard to understand period. BUt over all he doesnt give much work, so if u are able to pay close attention to every detail and will sit in the front of the class to see and write, then hes an ok guy. other then his teaching he's a very sweet old man!

His handwriting is horrible, but he's sooo nice. You watch at least an excerpt from a movie each class, sometimes two or three!! You'll learn a lot in his class, not just about the readings you have to do, but also random bits of interesting trivia.
