Comment:

Pretty dull prof, but also knows her stuff. A large % of your mark was based on participating through out the course, make sure you go to classes. Her final paper was very easy, and she is a fair marker. I'd suggest to read the textbook and go to class for her, I found her tests rather hard.

Was not a fan of this prof. Long lectures, and dry material. Vague on instructions for assignments and papers but marks somewhat easy. Tested picky stuff straight out of the textbook, so read it cover to cover. Overall not a very good prof.

Could not engage class in discussions. Dry, boring lectures. Expectations sometimes very unclear, but work itself is not difficult. Will avoid in future.

Either go to class or read the textbook. All the classes are directly from the textbook and her tests also come directly from there. She's fairly unorganized, shows up late to office hours, doesn't post notes or grades online. Wanted to go over midterm with her, never replied to my email. Make sure to adapt your style of writing to what she wants.

Het lecture might be long and dry but u dont have to go to every class. She's nice but she doesnt put up any notes online. She's not a tough grader at all but her midterm and final tests are quite fair. No textbook needed.

Her lectures are dull and boring, and her exams are straight from the textbook. She makes participation worth 10% to try and make you show up, but the classes are unnecessary. She's not specific on what she wants on assignments and marks hard when you don't give her exactly what she wanted. I'll probably get a B or B+ in her class but I'd avoid her

very dry lectures, went to probably about 5 all semester. she puts the notes online which is helpful.. but despite studying like mad I still only got a B. the tests have tricky questions since she just takes them from the pearson education website.. which tends to have wrong answers. not my first choice prof.

She uses the text for most lectures, but that is to ensure standardization throughout the course sections as it is a required course for entrance into the faculty. Tries to make things as interesting as she can with videos and such. Teaching style can be boring at times, could use more enthusiasim but overall she is not a bad professor.

I think that Linda West does a great job inciting thought. She marks hard but curves the final grade so everyone does well in the end. She understands that the purpose of the class is to get nurses thinking about the world that they live in and that this course will not make or break them as nurses. Take it for what it is.

Terrible professor! Uses class time to expound on her offensive political opinions which have little to do with nursing. Used the textbook for everything, including notes, but seemed, at times, unable to pronounce basic terms from said textbook. No point in going to class. Might as well have been a distance ed course. RUN AWAY from this class!

I think she tries to have a strong opinion to get us thinking. She really wants us to speak up as nurses. Her intentions are good. Tests are very difficult, the class average is usually 50%. She'll usually give you 5-10% extra. All of her assignments are very easy. I think everyone got A's on the papers, this helped to even out the test marks

Don't take a class with her. She is more concerned about running for MP than actually teaching you anything. And if you don't agree with everything she says, she'll rip you apart. On the plus side, she gives you good marks on your papers because she doesn't even read them.

Comment:

She sparks a level of intellectual thought that many other professors in the nursing faculty fail to do. She encourages students to think critically and pay attention to issues regarding health care. It was interesting and eye-opening learning about other health care systems in the world. Good job!

BARF! Need I say more? Course had potential, but West ruined it. Take the course with someone else. All she talked about was Belinda Stronach b/c she helped her campaign. Her focus was her political party, taking cell ph. calls in class. Changes requirements of final paper AFTER handing it in, then grades it! BRUTAL. Trust me, get another prof

She's actually a really great prof. Though shes a hard marker for essays, she gives constructive feedback and you really improve yourself (if you're willing to). She interacted with all students and was always friendly and smiling. It felt like being back in high school.

She was definitely the worst prof I have EVER had. She is mean-spirited and cold to most students, unless you pretend to like her. Her marking schemes make no sense, and she doesn't like to be questioned. She seems extremely insecure, and takes it out on her students who are usually smarter than her

If you are going to take this class you must take it with her. It was soo easy i think 90%of the class got an A. Just collect your smiley faces from her (seriously) and cut out your newspaper articles and you'll be set.
