Comment:
She cares about her students a lot, and wants them succeed. There is a lot of reading to do, and the final exam was accumulative over two semesters, so make sure to read all the material. Lectures are quite boring, but very helpful if you attend.

Honestly the most monotone person I know. She doesn't show any passion in her work and doesn't provide any feedback. She doesn't interact with any students and is overall poor. Her use of a lot of "uhm's" to think of what she is going to say next is very unprofessional and is very frustrating to listen to.

She is all over the place! She will skip certain material and skip ahead in readings without notifying the class where we are ... She rambles. on. forever. and literally does not stop talking. Also when she asks for "help" from the students, she shoots down every idea presented. Just like, why.

She is not clear in what she is teaching, you have a few books to read and does not connect any of them to course thesis. The lecture slide shows are posted and you won't be able to stay awake and pay attention to her, most of the time she's just going on rants about her favourite characters and quotes. Textbook field I rated for the novels.

I had no idea what to expect taking this class but I loved it! She opened my eyes to reading again. It was a refreshing class to go. She knows her material and does not ask questions that you won't know the answer too and welcomes all comments. I would recommend this class as an elective for sure.

Great prof. She cared about her students, encouraged discussion, and truly knew all of the material. Knowledgeable and helpful. However, being in a 100-person class discouraged class participation and wasn't the most fun. I would recommend getting into a smaller section with her. Overall she was an excellent first year English professor.

Her "umms" are extremely distracting. Comes into class at the last minute in a rush, but always prepared, loves class involvement (wants you to read textbook before to participant in discussion). Would take her class again if there was no one else, but on a day to day basis her flustered way of talking is really hard to listen to.

Fave prof. Quirky, approachable, kind, smart & passionate about the class. Many "ums" in her delivery which grows fun after a while. Worth seeing her for extra help or paper questions during office hours. Fair marker, appreciates interesting essay topics & approaches. Who knew Romantic poetry could be so awesome!

Lisa Vargo is a wonderful prof. She is very knowledgeable, and she conveys this knowledge with passion. She explains everything very thoroughly, and manages to maintain interest throughout the entire class. Her comments on essays are very helpful, her marking style very fair, and she is very willing to help out on writing technique.

Lisa is super nice and she knows her stuff. Canons is a huge class and she knew all of the material. She marked really easy and was always willing to read over my essay before I handed it in. But she does stare at the wall/ceiling all the time. I would recommend her to anyone.

She is a really great person, yes she little bit monotonous, but she is ALWAYS willing to help whene you ask. and she also gives an extra week extension to everyone with no penalty, and lets the students make up the final exam essay questions. she is very honest, but very helpful.

Professor Vargo is willing to help anyone and yes, she will give you her honest opinion and not sugar-coat it.Yeah, at first the "Um's" threw me off but by the end of the year I didn't even notice them. She's a really intelligent, nice person. Lets you have the essay questions on the final before the date so one can prepare in advance.

Okay teacher, we do 6 essays, with winter test and final. She goes over everything in class so you get a good overview if you did not read. She rarely looks at the students, shes always gazing at the wall. She also "um"s alot, and i mean alot. It's quite annoying. But shes a decent teacher even though i don't get the greatest marks.

She might be a goood lecturer but structured and lead this seminar class poorly. She lectured when studetns were suppposed to be presenting. Seemed to want to debate the presenters rather than letting the class respond to a presentation.
