Sunlaoshi (Lotus Perry) is a really cool professor. She really cares about your success in the class. If you volunteer for different events on and off campus that's a plus in her book. I love her, she's hands down one of my favorite professors at UPS.

She is really dedicated to her students success and is extremely understanding. If you had a really stressful week with other classes and bombed her weekly test, you can just talk to her and she is so hopeful and willing to let you retake it for a better grade. She is really well organized and you're given assignments/schedule links at the beginnin

Comment:

Sunlaoshi is fantastic and I loved her class both semesters! Chinese isn't an easy subject, but she makes it interesting and understandable. Homework and course materials are posted online and she is well organized. Perry's energy is fantastic and I would recommend it to anyone wanting to learn Chinese.

Grading is fairly easy, but sometimes hard to follow what assignments are due when, or where to find them among the numerous websites we use. The project assigned at the end was irritating, but otherwise a fun class.

I LOVE SUN LAO SHI! She is so nice and always tries to help her students. She tells you what exactly is on the test, but the translations you have to do can be tough at times. Get to know her...she's such a sweetheart! Take a class from her if you have the opportunity to, you will not regret it

By far the easiest language class,I've studied German,Spanish and heard of French and Japanese at UPS,and they're all way harder and at times not as fun.Sun Laoshi is always there for you,very understandable.Easy A if she likes you.Pretty outgoing and very nice outside class.A class is not easy for the subject but cuz of the professor.this is one.

I have had many Chinese teachers both in the US and China yet none have even come close to comparing to Sun Laoshi. She is outgoing, helpful and an effective teacher. Although the coursework is hard and there are many characters to memorize, Sun Laoshi's clarity and attitude will make learning both enjoyable and achievable.

Laoshi has so much energy and is very interactive. TAKE CHINESE, it is awesome...lots of work and memorizing of characters (15+ p/week). Tests are almost weekly. Expect to spend a lot of time studying and stay on top of the work and current lessons while remembering everything you have already learned. Best class ever. Dual taught.
